Kawazar Posted August 3, 2006 Report Share Posted August 3, 2006 I will be doing a 100000mi service on my 98 V70 and was wondering if anyone has replaced the heater core hoses at that point. I am doing the other hoses because they are original and will be doing a pvc kit and other things. So while I am there I thought I might replace the core hoses. Are they as easy as it looks? tscam1 Posted August 3, 2006 Report Share Posted August 3, 2006 I like to change my hoses and belts every three years.....I do alot of traveling and have experienced a "popped" hosewhen it wasn't so convienent .....same with my work truck....a little prevention saves a lot of my time and money down the road. robert213 Posted August 3, 2006 Report Share Posted August 3, 2006 I am begining to research all of this myself -- heater hoses, o-rings, plastic coupler (on cabin side of firewall). I am still looking for the small funny shaped coolant hose near the turbo. I miss the good ole days of walking into any friendly local neighborhood auto parts store and buying a couple feet of heater hose along with a pair of stainless steel band clamps. Kawazar Posted August 3, 2006 Author Report Share Posted August 3, 2006 Thanks guys. The car is a 98 and the hoses are 8 years old. I agree with the preventive stuff. I put on over 20k a year and like to catch things before they happen. I travel about 40 mins to work and don't need anything happening that far away. The parts seem to be the cheapest on FCP. Evil E Posted August 4, 2006 Report Share Posted August 4, 2006 The heateer hoses themselves are a pain to replace, but you can do them with patience. The little J-shaped hose coming off of the turbo can be had at the dealer only. It's about $12.00, and I suggest replacing it because: A) you need to remove it to easily change one of the heater hoses and they do go bad. It happened to me.
