And Yet Again, Another Major Problem...

So, I was driving from Fells Point back to my apartment (about 10 minute drive). I'm exiting 95 and getting onto 695 (about 3 minutes from my place at this point). There was a car in front of me, and little did I know there was a massive rock in the middle of the road. So it pops out of the car in front of me and I had to time no react. I didn't even have time to get the word "stuff!" out of my mouth when BAM! I look in my rearview and I see the rock launch up in the air missing an SUVs windshield by *maybe* a foot. That guy almost got owned. So I immediately pull over because I know something is damaged. Hop out of the car run to the front, see that my CF lip is torn in half (now I have no CF on my car...I swear, 95 likes to eat carbon fiber). I then look under the car, and what do I see....oil SPEWING from my pan. Run back to the car and turn it off. Call AAA, wait on the exit ramp at 2 in the afternoon for 90 minutes before he shows up. Towed it to Koons, gonna get an estimate tomorrow. I got a bunch of pictures on my cell phone, so as soon as I upload them, I'll post 'em.

Ouch! Maybe invest in a skid plate?

What sucks even more about this is that that lip is no longer in production. Can CF be repaired?

Nah man, it's gone. The only CF things I've had on my car, both custom made my a company now out of business, and both got owned on I-95 within 3 miles of eachother.

That sucks, glad you turned the car off when you did.

I had something similar happen 2 weeks ago when I was on the FL turnpike. A 2X4 got flipped up from a car in-front of me. I saw it coming at my windshield but there was nothing I could do, concrete wall on one side, garbage truck on the other. It came down on my front bumper and continued to tumble end over end under my car breaking the plactic oil pan guard and it actually tossed the backend up in the air. That's not something I want to experience again (especially when doing 70 + mph).

The IPD skidplate will be ordered soon. It's not a bad idea considering your luck as of late.
