Volvo Virgin
I believe you be talking about the box that houses the computer, and that plastic tube is just a cold air pickup to keep things from overheating in said box.

TM850R
Almost all of those plastic pieces I have seen on 850s and S70s have worn out along the flexing points (ridges). I wouldnt worry if its a little worn and exposed. If its torn in half I would replace it. Cant be too expensive from a dealer. Part number is right on it. TM850R
Easy fix. Do a search, there is some good info on it. You may need an alignment afterwards if its not done perfectly though.
MadeInJapan
About the accordian cooling hose- I had a hole in the top of mine. Electrician's tape pulled tightly around the hose has held up for over a year.

thelostartof
so how does that hose bring 'cold' air into the ECU's if all of that air is right off a hot jerk radiator? yea sure while moving things can cool down a bit .. but they still will be hot .... James100
Tie rod an easy fix?I was working on the tie rod today. Its really not that hard if your the type that does your own work. Read up on it with your search like was said before so you understand if you can do it. Its a pretty cheap part also. I got it here Autohaus Arizona
MadeInJapan
point taken, but if the box was enclosed, there would be no circulation of heat....atleast this way, the heat can dissipate a bit.No one's going to believe this, but here it goes. the air travels the other direction...through the ECU box out the front to the radiator. Something about the heat there drawing more heat out...also heat travels up. I believe I read this in Vadis. Anyway, I believe that the other end of the hose...the hose going to the ECU box comes from the air duct- part of your A/C system. So, there is some real cooling going on after all.
