I have an 95 850 t5 wagon with 188000 miles. I need to have the front trasmission seal and both front axles replaced. I also have noticed that have oil coming from somewhere around the dipstick. I love the car, but am not sure if I should go down the road of repair. I am looking for suggestions for other things I might check or need to replace, so I can get an idea of the big picture.

My opinion is it depends on how much you like your car and willing to spend to maintain it. What you've described is typical wear on a car with this much mileage and it looks like you've been putting of maintenance work and your being hit hard with it. If your car is paid off and all your paying is maintenance, maybe that's not so bad as compared to buying a new/newer car that you'd be making payments on.

If you give up on it, sounds like it's going to be a good buy for some handy person becasue you won't get much for it.

You can save by doing the work your self or paying considerably more haveing someone r&r the-

- drive axles

- seals

- dipstick o-ring

- PVC?

Well said. Right now I'm willing to put quite a bit of money into the XC as we'll be keeping it for more than four years as my wifes, don't-break-down-on-me car (one year down, x years to go). After that time, it'll likely be my point A to point B car.

My question is, how many dollars do you like your car?

I like it alot. I have a line on a V70T5 with a manual. It has about 120000 miles and Im thinking I ought to go for that. What are some of the more common problems I should be aware of?
