Wagoneer855:

1. I hear some other drag strips start timing your run when you take off. On your slip, your reaction time is quoted as .2240...does that mean that you would've technically ran a 14.08 on other strips?

2. Where did you get your catback installed and for how much? Did you get a DP? I'm not too far from you, so just inquiring.

well technically yes I would've done better on a track that starts when the car moves. But with lights you can always guess and sometimes even get better times (in real drag races they stop you from doing this by calling it a redlight if you have a reaction time that's not humanly possible).

I got it installed at my indy in Langton. It's called Johncheere motors (I'll have to double check the spelling of his name). We've been taking all our cars there for years. He specializes in Volvos so he does great work. The mechanic's name is Dave and he's pretty thorough. The only problem we've had there is brake work so that's the only thing we take out cars elsewhere for. I think it was an hour labour that's it. It took longer because he basically showed me step by step how to do and everything. At first I wasn't pleased with it because it was basically as quiet as stock. But then I replaced the rear resonator with a straight pipe and it's absolutely perfect now.

And no I'm still running the stock DP. I don't plan on upgrading until I swap in a 16T along with the R exhaust manifold.

A track that starts your times when you move is stupid...

Your ET starts when you cross the start line... you could sit there for 20 seconds and start and still run a 14.3.... still nice run

Sorry for the bumpage...just saw this.

The track that we were talking about is a track where your time starts when the light turns green...no matter where you are. It's like someone holding a stop watch in their hand and starting the stop watch when he says 'Go!'.

The trick I hear is to react on the last yellow -- when you see the last yellow, move! Your reaction will be just in time the light turns green.

It's really a split second before you see the last yellow... I try to aim for when the second yellow expires or is just about expired. It feels like you've redlighted when you have good reaction time. I generally get .0XX reaction times.

I did about 2 weeks before in the members announcements/events section, you must've missed it. If you want in the list of people I contact when there's a meet coming, shoot me an email at greg_hawel@hotmail.com and I'll make sure you know of all the events coming up.

shallow staging helps so you can get some roll out too.

I went up to Sears Point for the first time tonight and pulled a 16.08 @ 84.57 in my stock 854 T-5R. I didn't power brake at all, I'll do better next time... Had fun though!

^ You have to have a major boost leak or something.. even if you never really go to the track your trap speed should be alot higher. I would check everything out..

Good times you guys! I hope to get my Brick rolling in the next 10 days or so, and head out to Cali Speedway to test out the new stuff and work out some kinks. I'm hoping for a 14.3 or better. :)
