The pregnant girl was driving? She stopped in the middle of the road? You have absolutely zero recourse? I'd seriously talk to a lawyer before you goto the police station....unless you are a lawyer and know every single traffic law

glad nobody was hurt

Get a lawyer, and you got a leg to stand on i'm sure. If the lady is like 8.5 - 9 months pregnant she shouldn't even be driving. Girls are crazy enough as it is without adding all that poking hormonal stuff. Sorry to hear that pat.

There is no traffice law against driving while pregant.

It sucks big, but Pat is right about liability. In a rearend collision in California, the person who rearends the vehicle ahead of them is a 100% responsible regardless of what the person ahead of them was doing. CHP will tell him he should have been following at a safe distance to react. I've only heard a few successful cases of liability placed to the other driver, but without a CHP report at the scene, Pat's insurance company will accept liability.

I had the samething happened to me when I was 19, when a guy stopped suddenly ahead of me at 40 mph. I had a 1961 VW (brakes suck) and hit him. Found out he stopped suddenly to pick up a propane tank that fell off the front seat onto the floor (illegal). As stuff would have it, the guy was an offduty LA County Sherriff, so I was screwed when the LA County Sherriffs showed at the scene. Funny part, is the propane tank never showed up in the police report.

I know it sucks, but good luck Pat.

sh1t happens. the R looks like a easy fix. fix the car and drive another day. also if you got the funds get a lawyer..not just to see what you can do about your accident..but to protect yourself from the other driver. they took off with no police on scene and went to the hopsital..who knows what they could try

Some zip ties and she'll be good as new man. Glad everyone is ok. Ive had the same luck as you. Two rear-end collisions and Ill admit one was definately my fault but going 50+ in a Dakota quadcab when a Honda locks their tires right in front of you is no fun. Ill just have to say, she had some issues opening what was left of her trunk after that. Good luck with everything man.
