Ipd Stage 3

So why are they now 900.

Inflation?

Before the Euro I bought a Ferrita 3" DP with Kemira metal cat. for something like 1050 Guilder. That makes €475.50.

No 5 years later the DP is double that price. Used wel maintained converter DP's still do over €400. Converterless even €350 used from time to time..

Of course you can gather the parts cheapo left and right. Of course you can gain the same power on your popular dyno around the corner. But in many cases the "new" setup will walk away without fuzz.

Remember, we all have the fastest Volvo on this board.. ;)

The downside of the iPD deal simply is that not many people are willing to spend the amount of money in one deal.

Almost every customer will tune in stages, either chip first or DP first. Turbo change is last in line.

Maybe the iPD comes with good timing since many turbo's let go near ~145K miles and most of the 850's and X70's are near that mark now.

It's really not a bad deal, just a lot of money.

I completly agree. Not trying to down IPD. But the us dollar hasn't change no where near that much. Yes most people on hear are going to search the yards and find the cheapest deal. For the guy who wants to call one place and buy all new parts, then yes its not to that bad of a deal.

Good deal for someone looking at just, paying - installing. But unfortunately there are A LOT of ppl here drive Volvos by default, cheapos! Drive Volvos and want performance parts to be at the level of Honda tuning ;) . But for someone to just pay and get all of these great parts and not to worry about CEL's and big f'ups this is the way to go. Too bad, I have other responsibilities if not I'll go pick me up another 850R just to play with.

Kudos to IPD, I also liked the video B)

All I'm saying is you put no value on the cost of R & D, stocking the items, staffing etc. I sell to IPD and I know for a fact the devaluation of the dollar and the high cost of shipping is killing them on this item.

Less than 5 years ago a sheet of 5/16" steel cost me $125.00 it now costs me $295.00 for the exact same piece of material. Inflation is alive and well regardless of what you may think.

Great point,

Inflation on the raw material alone is skyrocketing, let alone shipping and advertising.

It is very nice to see more and more companies and individuals (a direct "BIG" thank you to "YOU" making new items and offering packages.

turbo 1000 ( pssh ill give u that )

turbo back exhaust 500 ( custom )

ecu 300 to 400 ( other )

all installed but turbo and still have u by about 700, regardless what u think.

My Opinion the price that IPD has is pretty good for a tuned system. The one thing that BREAKAWAY you did not account for is tuning. SO let us see here, using the figures you listed above:

turbo $1000 ( pssh ill give u that )

turbo back exhaust $500 ( custom )

ecu $300 to $400 ( other )

Custom downpipe with Cat $750-$900

Dyno Time: Minimum 2 sessions @ $75 each = $150

Custom tuning for the ECU = estimate @ $150 for each re-write, minimum 2 = $300

FEDEX @ $25 next day air X 2 times = $50

Total= $3050 - $3150 this still does not account for DOWN time when you are waiting for the ECU Re-Write to come back to you, which may take days or even weeks. SO for the price they are selling it is not bad. God BLess :)

+ $250.00 core charge, so your in it $1k for the turbo, roughly $900 for the dp, that's $1900 and the kit is what $2600.00 so $700.00 for the ECU and they normally sell for $900.00. Maybe you'd rather pay there overhead for one day. 46 employees and 12,000 sf building.

Just don't get it. I'll bet your in a union too.

hahaha a business is WAY more expensive to run then you think. im writing up a business plan right now, you have to think of EVERY angle and even things you cant account for you have to account for. i can really appreciate what they have done here and I think the people who get this kit will be more then happy.

ever heard about wholesale disscount?

yes thats how businesses stay in business. they buy at x dollars, then go anywhere from 100 percent to 300 percent mark up. thats the only way you can afford a brick and morter store. that is why you can get shit online for much cheaper usually, much less overhead. no store, no sales people, no nothing. just a ware house and some storage.

Where are you guys making up your alternate cost lists getting an 18T ECU tune for 300-400? Speedtuning? o_0

Unless you're planning on using a cheap low end off the shelf 15G map, which is just silly.

It looks like IPD could really do a little more ignition tuning from that dyno chart, probably gain a bit of power and smoothness, but still a nice package. 260 real whp in an 850 is fast.

Good deal. If I did not have the connections I had and wanted to build a quick daily driver, this would be at the head of my considerations.

(I've probably tried more turbo and tuning options on my own car than anyone here 'cept maybe Johann or Mike ;) )

you miss read ... he already listed a TURBO back exhaust for $500 .. so how can you add another 750-900 for just the downpipe and cat

so take 900 off that final total ..

as said many a times ... paying more than $800 for a complete turbo to tail 3" exhaust w/ two mufflers and cat is pretty insane

and for others ... turboback , turbo to tail, full exhaust all mean including downpipe

Actually when I did my estimate I used $750 for the downpipe, so subtracting $750 bring it to $2300, you still have the downtime for custom tuning. Unless of course you have an extra ECU which I have and cost me $300 and about 6 months to find. God Bless :)
