Ipd Stage 3

I'm going to come off like the noob I am, but I think this kit is a great idea. While I may not buy one, I know people who would because they don't want to go through the issues of finding the one part, installing it, finding another, installing it and so on. They would much rather just get the parts all at once and get them installed. They're just that impatient. So yes I think IPD made a good move offering this kit. And honestly, seeing as parts availibility for Volvos just isn't like that of a Civic, it is nice to have a all in one kit.

this is sorta off topic, but not really. is there any interest on here for a group buy maybe? i do have the cash flow and was looking to upgrade the turbo a while back but sold off all the parts. this is a great option i think. i might be down for the kit by myself, but you all know VS...we love group buy pricing. just a thought.

Glad to see the Volvo tuning world becoming more like other cars but I kind of feel as though it is an end of an era. Now anyone can go and by a 18t setup for there car instead of doing all the research and figuring it out. If you know what I mean.

side note: What is this intercooler kit thing that Doug is selling? Checked his web site and I dont see anything. Info?

My Opinion the price that IPD has is pretty good for a tuned system. The one thing that BREAKAWAY you did not account for is tuning. SO let us see here, using the figures you listed above:

turbo $1000 ( pssh ill give u that )

turbo back exhaust $500 ( custom )

ecu $300 to $400 ( other )

Custom downpipe with Cat $750-$900

Dyno Time: Minimum 2 sessions @ $75 each = $150

Custom tuning for the ECU = estimate @ $150 for each re-write, minimum 2 = $300

FEDEX @ $25 next day air X 2 times = $50

Total= $3050 - $3150 this still does not account for DOWN time when you are waiting for the ECU Re-Write to come back to you, which may take days or even weeks. SO for the price they are selling it is not bad. God BLess :)

down pipe 750-900.

either way u have down time waiting on ecu.

Actually when I did my estimate I used $750 for the downpipe, so subtracting $750 bring it to $2300, you still have the downtime for custom tuning. Unless of course you have an extra ECU which I have and cost me $300 and about 6 months to find. God Bless :)

still almost 1k less ... and extra ECU is $100 from lots of online junkyards.. really easy to find

1k is a lot of $ that could be spent elsewhere like on that intercooler setup from dougy haha

Don't everybody get their panties in a wedgie, this seems to be somewhat of a love hate relationship.

People are in bussiness to make money, if they have a product someone will buy it.

You don't have to think its the best but you neighbour might.

When I fisrt heard about it I was happy about a one stop shop, then I started to read and see what others here have done and feel a little more knowlegable about buy parts and trying them out for myself.

Each of you have relied on the R&D of someone else to get where you are now or hoping to be soon, so give credit where its do.

HOW WOULD YOU FEEL if this was your company and you read all the post in this topic. Would you give up and say never again or would you keep trying to improve things to reach a broader group.

THINK ABOUT IT!!!!!!!!!!

Just my 1/2 pence

You implied that you operated a 16 bay Volvo indy shop. Is that correct?

If this is true, are you going to publicly offer a <$500 downpipe?

No I have a 16 bay garage. which is the largest independent volvo repair shop in the us. Again IPD is a great company, they can be alittle high on their prices. like u said 900 for a down pipe and 700 on ecu. Iv had mine for a while, probably b4 most others hit the market. Did not pay no where near that price. So why are they now 900.

Jesus guys how are people still bikcering about this? Clearly, this is not aimed at us to buy. This is aimed at people who arent us but who have a volvo and want to make it faster. You guys should be happy that they introduced this, that means more fast volvos out there and that is after all what we want, correct? It's be clearly established that we can source the parts individually for cheaper, good you! Then go do it yourself and dont buy this kit, but for those that can't or dont want to this is the deal for them. SO Karlson shut up already about downpipes, you clearly dont know what they cost, even after being told by PEOPLE WHO MAKE THEM what they cost. If you want to do it your way, then do it and shut up and gloat about paying less later. This thread really is pathetic guys. Here people are whining about the lack of aftermarket Volvo stuff, and here is a company working on expanding the market, and all you guys do is bash them for their prices when you wouldnt be buying from them in the first place. So get off your f*cking soap boxes sit your rear end down and shut up.

i offered them @ 180 and no one wanted them .. oh well guess all of the local guys get em .. ugly but they work just as good as something that cost 5x as much

as soon as i can afford a fwd car i should be able to build a few more a bit less

no, volvo repair shop. and no, like i said. i had my down pipe made by a local exhaust shop. we service, and repair volvos.

we do not offer any performance goods, just oe parts. and again look at sig, i like ipd, i bought thier ecu and sport exhaust.

why are u worried about a 500 dollar down pipe, they have been offerd for less.
