Boiled Calliper Last Night

i took my 850 t5 out for a little blast last night and for sum reason started to notice the front left calliper sticking a little bit.i thought itd free off.so went for a little blast only 8 miles or so but on the way home started heating the brakes up a bit.well when i got home the brakes were boiling :unsure: they were that hot theve melted the paint on the calliper.i couldny smell it because i was driving.i know i shouldnt have drove it but you live and learn and anyway i think the brakes are crap when warm.ive a set of ceramic pads all round and the brakes fade badly when pushed hard on a back road.so i may as well sort them out.are there any relativly cheap upgrades?other than the 305 big disc?or are they any good?what about the brakes of an eve?big brembos and make brackets?whats your views?

Might want to change the fluid, after boiling it's usually damaged. Boiling produces gas bubbles within any boiling fluid. Gas is compressible so boiling brake fluid leads to a “soft” brake pedal with long travel. In extreme cases overheated brake fluid necessitates “pumping the brake pedal” in order to get a pedal at all.

Same sort of thing happened to me last night. My brakes were doing their usual constant scratching and squeeling noises, but much worse this time. I could smell the front driver's side. When I got home, I pulled into the garage. Front driver's side assembly was just radiating, it was so hot and smelled. But the other side seemed just find. I drove around in a circle slowly and had my g/f stand outside the car to see what was making the most noise. It turns out it was my rear brakes. But they don't heat up cray like the front's do.

This was odd, because in no way at all was I even using them that much. I had 4 people in my car, and we were just casually driving about 15km, then the brakes just started to go nuts. I also noticed my balljoint (which will be replaced soon) was making much more noise than usual, and my car would shake occasionally at only 60kph+. My tires have so many clip and sht on them from attempted balancing, it's impossible to fix.

You don't put the wheel weights on the inside?

This didn't sound like an episode of boiled fluid, since there was no mention of the pedal getting soft or going to the floor. Sounds more like fade coupled with pads that aren't meant for the amount of heat generated, so they may have been damaged.

I boiled the fluid twice this summer. The first time was during a ~25min session on a small track with a lot of turns and short straights. I had old brake fluid, so it didn't really surprise me that much. I noticed the pedal got a little soft at the end of one straight, so I backed off the car ahead of me and came around towards pit in...then the pedal went to the floor so I pulled it in. Flushed the fluide after that episode.

Then again at a track, did about 8-10 hot laps and came straight into the pits w/o a cool down lap. It was the first session of the day, I only did a few laps, and I didn't think to run a cool down lap since I was still going slow and learning the track. Went back out later and the pedal went to the floor after I exited the pits. Bled the fronts, then ran the rest of the day on the track with no problems (about 8-15 laps at a time, then a full cool down lap).
