George, you got first in the modified sedan class? Where was I? So you took both modified sedan and autox? Well done!

Any pics of the rest of the cars at the meet? Forward me what you have so I can post them up on the VCOA website.

Yeah, but it was my first autocross. The guy in the Dodge had experience in autocrosses before, although probably not in that car.

When you said you were going to do a 27, halfway through the course I thought you had it. I had my target time to beat then. :) It was interesting that the 3 of us were all lined up together on our runs.

your first one?! you should autoX more often... ya might do pretty good! Between me... years of autoX and Track experiance... John Pagel, many more years of Racing aswell. You beat us both! Like I said, that course was geared to more of the driver vs more of the car... otherwise I wouldn't have had a chance in my GF's Stock 140hp Dodge Stratus. Having a big turbo seemed to be the biggest handicap... the guy's with those never could get it spooled up quick enough.

PS: you wouldnt have snagged a pic of the stratus, my gf is dying for one.

Actually, I didn't take many pictures at all. I was going to but ended up being busy doing other stuff.

At the awards banquet you were busy making a lot of noise at our table, so you must have missed it. I almost had to start moderating everyone there.

I raised my gain and turned the boost down to 10, the lowest I could go. That monster 240 wasn't much competition, at least when he had to turn. :) He could never get the boost on, and when he did he spun it. The 740 who was going in front of me took second right?

I think if I could have kepted it in 2nd gear and a better driver like George was driving I would have had a chance at below 30 seconds!

I don't know if I could have done that well in another car. I know my car, and that is important. I am glad I wasn't the only one to honk my horn in the middle of a run. Like CJ said after the race, a ride along really does help you out. I had it at TH and it helped me a lot.

The pictures we really needed was the lady fixing her hair during her timed run! I should know her name, but it escapes me right now. I don't think it slowed her down either. :)

My mistake was accelerating. I never got out of first gear. The first round which was my best, I paid alot of attention to not spinning the tires and just being smooth. The 2nd and 3rd round I was getting alot of tire spin trying to accelerate too hard.

Finally, I am posting my pictures.

Check out the supercharger. :)

Those ended up being the only show pictures I took. I was going to take photos of that infamous 240, but I was urged not to. :)

Here are a bunch of us at the bar while the bartender put on a show.

George,

What's up with that 125 members and growing, yet you're the only one to make it to the National. WOW

I am the old man in the group. The youngins tend to be broke all the time. :) I need to fix that number also. There are people not on the list, but I need to purge off some of the deadbeats who aren't around anymore.

I would hate to have a concours winning car, so much work to keep it clean and the fact that you never really get to enjoy it out side of your climate controlled garage or trailer en route to shows :(

I know there are exceptions out there for daily driven car show winners (judged shows), but still, I am happy with how my car is and also accept that it won't win any real shows without a lot more work...

...with enough powdercoating and cleaning chemicals, daily driving is a possibility - but you are right that the constant worrying about damage isn't worth it. Just drive 'em and stay away from curbs - that is my new mantra.
