Zappo
This is true. And?And you can't use the shorty for a triple. Well, you can, but it probably won't shift very well in one of the rings. :)
European Sportwagon
Apparently I'm a freak of nature because I was off the charts on their scales. Get a frame custom built and spec it with carbon Record. That's what you need!
gdizzle
Every time I look at the LeMond I can't help but think it'd be my number one choice if it had better components. I just can't justify Tiagra over 105 and Ultegra. The short cage derailleur is something I've always preferred on roadies though. It's a tough decision but ultimately I think the Motobecane is a better deal in the long run.Yeah, I really like the lemond a lot. Bikesdirect is almost out of the 58cm Motobecane sprint, and they won't have any until May... They have plenty of the grandsprint, but the grand sprint isn't a triple and has slightly different components.
Zappo
Do you need a triple? Most racers don't use them. My bike is a triple, but I don't race and tend to do lots of climbing. If you could get 105 or Ultegra on the LeMond...

Yeah, I just wouldn't need the third ring for my kind of riding. That's also assuming Greg wanted three chainrings (which it seems he does). I agree with you, it's just my opinion about aesthetics. This is something I WISH I could have. Someday......someday....
drPheta
Motobecane > Felt > LeMond. If the Felt were one of the F series, I'd take that over the Motobecane.

rodrigo
I'm with Zappo...Ultegra on the Lemond. The most important thing (to me) is comfort and feel, and if you feel the Lemond does that for you, then get it. Parts are replaceable for upgrades...D/A shifters, etc.QUOTE (matt b @ Mar 21 2008, 03:36 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>rough times and some pavement kissing, cat. 5 races are a mess. ...oooh the memories...Jesus, tighten your chain. Spoony
he's fine...its not going anywhere. chains are nto supposed to be tight.I run my chain relatively tight. I don't like having any slack in it since it's my drive train AND my brake.
quiksilver
found a few more:Scalpel 1000 (for sale)Isn't a Talas (that's what it looks like) overkill for a Scalpel? 67mm of travel in the back and minimum 100mm in the front is a rather large difference, right? It would slacken the head angle though, and make it more of a trail bike.I agree with Rodrigo, if a frame is comfortable take it. In the long run you will be better off, even if the components are worse. Components are fairly cheap, a new frame is not. I think the Motobecane looks the best because of the colour, the orange stands out a lot compared to the other bikes.

Way better than the marzocchi I had on there before. If I increase the travel any more, yes, you are correct. The angle changes and it feels funky.
