Sweet CL find for a friend if I don't decide to keep it.

I did a little shopping for a friend who wanted a road bike under $500.

Got this very clean steel framed beauty with a clear finish Its Tange Ultralight butted tubing with a complete Shimano 105 equipment group.

It has less than 500 miles. It was manufactured as a ParkPre around 96. ( shaved the labels, they sucked)

Got it for $425.

Dude, that's even nicer! Delta brakes? Sheriff stars? What's the group? Is it all C-Record?

GORGEOUS!!!! So much nicer then the newer one!

Yes, it's all Campy C-Record with the Century finish. Everything is NOS. Trust me, the C40 rides very nicely - better than most of today's carbon frames.

I have no doubt the C40 rides like a dream but I have a thing for old classy steel builds. The stem has the colnago pantograph and the fork has the little colnago symbol and name imprinted in the crown lugs. Those are things you won't find on more modern bikes made of aluminum and carbon.

Mind posting up the rest of your stable?

You're lucky, I'd take any Colnago over my Litespeed, any day of the week!

Even the ones with the crimped tubing? I haven't heard good things about their crash record and life span in general.

Would probably rock that one anyway! :)

I dunno, I love Italian frames.

I've been getting into American frames recently. Serrotta, Jacobs, Mikkelson, Vanilla, 3e, Don Walker, Broakland/ El Camino, etc.

I prefer the older Italians. The new carbon fiber stuff looks to similar. It's so hard to see any difference in most frames. Not to mention some aren't worth anything! Tange was selling a monkeyin' expensive full carbon fiber frameset and it didn't even give a straight chain line!

Besides, Steel is Real.

But titanium beats steel, from my experience. :)

These are a few others I have put together. I feel a bit silly posting pictures of my bikes being new to your forum, but it's nice to share with others who appreciate them. Thanks again,

-Wm.

PS. I'd guess you now understand my username.
