Timbo Slice
Wow.... And I understand that he's innocent until proven guilty but his behavior does nothing to indicate he might be innocent. Unfortunately, like it or not, Craigslist and other forums like Pinkbike almost promote this kind of behavior. Guaranteed this stuff is going on elsewhere with items other than bike parts. This kind of stuff makes me not want to use my bike around town when I'm running errands, even if it is just a beater. It also makes me wonder if anyone on here has ever received any parts from this guy or someone similar...
Black Betty
if the chain is to short, this can happen. if the chain is old, that can explain the skipping, cassette getting worn can skip hanger not lined correctly of course. I think it's stiff links. I discovered 2 or so that are stiffer than others.
Fudge_Brownie
Unfortunately, like it or not, Craigslist and other forums like Pinkbike almost promote this kind of behavior. In what way? By the culture? Or just the fact that it is a method of p2p cash sales? I don't spend a lot of time on pinkbike, but I don't think the culture there is accepting of thieves in any way. It's not different than the wantads, forum marketplaces, the fleamarket, or yardsales. Maybe I misunderstood, but I don't think they promote this behavior. Mesoam
slightly bend links back and forth from the center of the pin to loosen links i doubt a stiff link in the chain could break a hanger link that, i'd bet more on metal fatigue or crack

Maybe the set screws on the rear derailleur moved around? I'll probably ride again Friday (with a spare hanger), and keep a better eye on the adjustment. Maybe I misunderstood, but I don't think they promote this behavior. I'm not saying they promote it on purpose. I'm talking more of Pinkbike being a semi anonymous sale similar to our For Sale forum or SS. I haven't met half the people I've bought parts from so I don't see them face to face to notice if they're shady about their business. I just bought a MAF from Connor, I've met him in person and know for a fact he has had 6 P2Rs for parts in the last year. I also know he sent me his old MAF from his S60R since he upgraded to a larger diameter Audi one. However, if it were any other seller, I'm not saying I'd be skeptical right out of the gate but I would have no way of knowing if I'm using a part they got from a junk yard or the one they stole from a neighbor in the middle of the night. It's a quick Paypal transaction on my end and run to the post office on their end. For instance, Ian Haan essentially stole parts from members and resold them for profit with a little sweet talk and false promises. As for Craigslist, I could find a sweet deal on some road frame I'm looking for, meet the guy in a Walmart parking lot, pay cash, and never see or hear from him again and have no way of knowing where the frame came from despite what he told me. It's a P2P cash sale. None of these two examples have anything to do with culture as far as I'm concerned, it's just the nature of the beast. jnderr
Dusted off my mountain bike for first time in forever. Replaced both tires and tubes. 1994 American comp-lite with mostly XT other than the crank which'll probably get upgraded if I ride it enough. Also found a place that sells replacement elastomer kits which is gold since the front fork compresses far enough to run the front tire.

Mesoam
6 min into my ride yesterday...Vittoria rubino pro slick, I doubt this thing has more than 500 mi on it, no bump in the road no nothing, this was out of nowhere just spinning a calm pace no debris in the tire either.. put an old set of Michelline's on that probably have 2x the mileage and are in better shape... matt b
You don't need that soft a tire to just ride on. Switch to a conti GP4000 or something similar, you're running a race tire on NE roads. It's not going to work out for you.
Mesoam
The rubino pro is hardly a race tire IMHO....I ran the Conti Pro-Race's for a long time, never had a sidewall rip like that, couple flats though
