Fudge_Brownie
Interestingly long stem and seat height - are you riding a frame size smaller than ideal?
ruecatinat
1X10 conversion done..34t front and 11-42t rear using a 771 XT cassette and a WolfTooth 42t cog. Also a XT medium cage clutch derailleur with a One-up components cage.went with a new XT shifter the XTR I had was I-spec A and my levers are B.has my "Commuting" flat pedals on it now, also have old 747s and some Nuke Proof platformsThis Bike is a perfect all arounder, from gravel paths with the kids, to super technical singletrack, back woods exploring, riding to the bar, to days at Rays MTB park on all the courses including the half-pipe and "bowl". I beat the crap out of this bike and it seems to like it. How are you finding the chain hop with the medium cage XT? Looks good!
Dick Dastardly
How are you finding the chain hop with the medium cage XT? Looks good! None so far. Using a Raceface NarrowWide front ring along with the clutch. Interestingly long stem and seat height - are you riding a frame size smaller than ideal?Frame is a 20" and it fits me just right Stem is a 110. I have a 80mm on order. Seat height is only 3" above stem height. This is an older frame.. not a sloping top tube with a 6" fork and 29" wheelsHaving super high stem and seat low relationship is a new (and old) trend
BurgerBob
Interestingly long stem and seat height - are you riding a frame size smaller than ideal? Not unusual at all. This is a long stem and serious drop:
Fudge_Brownie
Road bike's different. I'm not one of those "downhill geometry to ride XC" types, but that set up looks like it puts the weight pretty far forward, and endo-prone. Tough to throw the bike around like that too. I realize some of this is personal preference, just seems odd.
Mesoam
nah thats just old frame geometry like he mentioned, I used to do the same thing with old FSR's made the front end nice and lofty

iPd Cameron
Finally finishing up the Geekhouse -- just need to mount a front brake and it's ready to ride. Trying it out with a backsweep bar to see how I like it. Also finishing up the All city. Decided on H Plus Son SL42 wheels since Velomine had them for a great deal. Plus they're laced to 105 5800 hubs so I can make the move to 11s with these if I want to. Finished them off with Paul skewers and Vittoria Open Corsa SC tires:

Dick Dastardly
Mikes carbon bars are strong enough to support the weight of the WHOLE bicycle while it hangs from his gram scale.
flyfishing3
na, i've actually been riding a decent amount. i've been trying to work through an issue and it turned out to be the BB cups. crazy, wasn't the bb, just the cups creaking. i'll probably be swapping the american classics back on for the winter soon. I realize some of this is personal preference, just seems odd.doesn't put weight too far forward. Stem line is slightly behind front hub line. Very balanced. Looks are deceiving you. na, i've actually been riding a decent amount. i've been trying to work through an issue and it turned out to be the BB cups. crazy, wasn't the bb, just the cups creaking. i'll probably be swapping the american classics back on for the winter soon. creaking cups is very common source for creaks. Sometimes very loud. Anti-seize or grease solves it.
