But it was a bit small. I'm 6'3" and it was a short top tube. Sold it back in Feb. built the Intense up after a very brief stint with a Pivot Mach 5 that was also too small. The Intense fits perfect with a 25"TT. Rides great, just need to find the perfect rear shock setting. I'm almost there. The 2015 Pike is a fucking sweet fork. Best fork I've ever ridden. If so have the same one on the Yeti, been thinking about the cane creek double barrel air as it has high/low comp adjustment, something I feel the fox needs. It's an XL. running it with a 50mm Chromag stem. Feels great. Yeah it's an RP23 and I have been considering a DB as well. The riders who put down 100 miles plus in a week or even just a day. (Pat, Mike, Tommy, Cameron) It's been decades since I was grinding miles on the pavement on a regular basis and my old Schwinn LeTour (built when they were still manufactured in Chicago) is a lead boat such that I wouldn't even contemplate updating it. I need to rehabilitate my knee and am finding road riding is bringing all kinds of benefits. But the mountain bike, as light as it is, just is killing me for the inefficiency on pavement. So I'm in search for a new bike. I've looked at road and tri and cross and determined that I'm going to move straight to road since if I'm going to do any form of off road riding I have a perfectly good MTB for such days. But what should I buy? I've got a budget of ~$1500 and I've looked at Felt, Specialized, Trek, Cannondale, and a few others. I like the Felt Z5 and could see picking up a used one with no complaints. But should I be concerned about wear/stress on the frame and fork? Let me know your thoughts. I don't anticipate I'll be racing - though you never know - I just want a light, comfortable bike that will carry me and allow me to keep up with my friends who do race when we're out on weekend rides (yes, I realize it's more about the rider than the bike, I can work on me, I want to start on the right platform though). flyfishing3 Posted July 5, 2016 Report Share Posted July 5, 2016 If you don't want your knee to bug you, i highly suggest a PRO fitting. you can destroy it before you find the right fit. Even though you just got a new saddle, make sure they did a fitting. Specialized has a tool to measure your SIT bones. i use a 155 saddle, but i'm a fat ass. Find a bike you can use 25 or 28 size tires on. Much more comfy. Because of my size, i only ride metal, but thats preference. my good bike is titanium, but i have alum bikes also. you can always upgrade the wheels so don't concentrate on that at this moment imo. look for a frame that fits well, but look for a good groupo. Shimano 105 is great for the money. Ultegra, if you can step up to that. a good Kit can help your enjoyment also. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
