The S-Works m4 FSR in 2000 was about as reliably light as they got for the era.. Ellsworth was the only other one that got that close. The S-Works has a carbon/magnesium Mars fork, carbon cranks etc.. With the flat pedals and RaceFace bars that are on it now it's probably 25 his old bike was a 24" wheel specialized with an SR fork.. This Klein sits at 23.9 without any CF components which is pretty amazing in the face of today's tech and it retailed $800 back in 1996 which was a killer deal at weight for the dollars spent. This one was one of the last pre-Trek acquisition bikes. And yes I had the seat jacked up to relieve pressure on the knees while riding combo asphalt and single track that day. Yep, and that thing is still competitive for racing. Just make sure he doesn't put the post up beyond the min insert, those fsr's were notorious for cracking seat tubes... iPd Cameron Posted October 19, 2016 Report Share Posted October 19, 2016 After not having a fender'd bike setup last winter I cobbled together a "new" rain bike to fall/winter commuting. I had pretty much everything to build this one up already in the garage. The frame is a Trek Soho S I bought new to use as a commuter bike 8 or 9 years ago. I've had it set up in many variations over the years but it's just been sitting as a frameset from a hook in the garage for the last year or two.
