NO! Not exactly! IPD had a tutorial on how to properly set up the WG. I would suggest looking at that and get a calibrated low pressure gauge to check it out..

Dave only the newer cars will do that. I believe your Wastegate should be at around 7 psi. Be careful when you do this. What happens is if you have it set too low it will exhuast the gas spinning the compressor sooner so you wont make as much pressure. When you tighten the rod it will not exhuast the gas until later due to the more tension on the rod.

In the IPD instructions, it states that the stock setting is 1-3psi (If I Recall Correctly) and they recommend setting it to 5-7psi. Which would you (all) consider the "best setting"?

The 5-7 works great but I challenge you to find a gauge that is that accurate that low a pressure, hence the broad tolerance. If you adjust it you can get it into the ballpark and try a turn or two to fine-tune it. The first thing that will happen is the engine will pre-detonate at low RPMs and the ecu will not be able to dump the boost fast enough. This will turn on a check engine light on giving you a boost control code.

Meh Ive always had it as tight as it can go, used with an MBC and bypassing the BCS, never had any problems. With the MBC settings left the same, tightening the wastegate arm will increase max boost with each turn.

I've had the arm shortened pretty much all the way since I put my 16T on in May and have had zero problems with it. Before that, I was running my 15G the same way with no problems. Oh yeah, I'm still using the stock BCS and no MBC.

Joe, you sure it's 3.1 and not 3.3?

I'm certain there isn't a gauge that is super accurate, but in reality, I really was looking for a range. Since it came up, what a perfect opportunity to ask.

If I have mine set around 7psi, I get crazy boost spikes up to 21psi in between shifts (auto). The ECU catches it, but it feels like I lose performance (maybe timing pull) while it gets the boost back under control. The 21psi part is what scares me. Any higher and I think I'll start having palpitations.

Meh...what I really need is to get this thing tuned.
