gdizzle
yup...and its not just because of the bearing issues...all E46Ms (01-06s) run on it...there are ZERO US distributors for it except the dealership...the good thing is the stuff is supposed to last 10-15K miles (at least thats the BMW suggest interval)...A lot of people do half-intervals which is what I think I'll be doing (7500 miles)...Uhh, it is because of the bearing issue. They changed the viscosity back in '03 IIRC. The '01 and '02 ran a thinner oil. BMW was blaming the spun bearing and rods out the side of the engine on the owners over revving the engine. As for the oil, my dad gets it from a guy in Alexandria and he is NOT A BMW DEALER. It is available from other places other than the dealer. I've done probably 5 oil changes on it, pretty straight forward.
lax01
oh nice...what do you mean he gets it from a guy in Alexandria? I've been told that there really is no other place to get it except Online and via the dealership...how cheap can the guy get it in Alexandria?btw, here are some more pics:

TG850T5R
Very Nice car...... What year? How many miles?I have been hearing the same thing about the BMW oil..... Mobil 1 is not certified for my new car and I will have to get the BMW oil from the dealer for in between oil changes...... But yeah, maint and repairs are lil costlier than a volvo for sure..... I don't think I will keep mine after the warranty / free maint is over.....
lax01
josh how are your payments looking? lolLets just say I could have afforded a much nicer/newer one if I didn't get jerk-raped on insurance...I put a bunch of cash down so my payments are by no means huge...very managable...Josh, are those bbs CSL Comp wheels I see in the 19" variety? If so, have fun buying new tires at 350 bucks a pop! smile.gifThey are in fact ZCP wheels which are a 1/2in thinner all around...they are 19s but they have practically brand new tires on them...well, for now.... Very Nice car...... What year? How many miles?I have been hearing the same thing about the BMW oil..... I don't think I will keep mine after the warranty / free maint is over.....2002 with 55k miles....the car was well-maintained at dealerships all its life...after inspection II, the only thing I'm really worrying about it control-arm bushings, which I'll probably replace with some Poly ones if and when they do give out...but the car feels SOLID, a lot more solid than the 850 and I'm really not worried about having an out-of-warranty BMW
