mark your intake looks great!! Your piping sizes are identicle to mine... they are going to be swedish twins!

where did you get the vacuum nipples you welded to your intake? still havent done that and my bpc is not functioning correctly. Also maybe its a stupid question (dont know volvos well) but why do you have two vacuum lines from the intake? do you guys also use a 3 line BPC??

your catch can should work great how you have it set up. i just ran one line from the top of my valve cover to the catch can and put a tiny k&n filter on it for a vent... works great.

How has the wiring been? i think i have decided to plug it in and tune it on the dyno with my stock fuel system so its driveable on the EMS and next im going to do a full fuel system and convert to E85... no sence wasting money on injectors now and then switching in a few months... although its very frustrating to not have the power i know its capable of. <_<

Also how did you decide to do the harness? directly spliced into current wires, or are you doing a plug and play harness using plugs from a stock ECU? I have a very good information source for this standalone BTW if you PM me on saablink i will find the site for you. Have you studied your swedish lately?? :)

The vacuum nipples aren't welded, they are threaded in. They're 1/8 NPT thread to a 1/4" barb. You should be able to find them without too much trouble.

I have two vacuum lines because one is for the boost control valve and the other for the stock FPR. The stock FPR uses this line to suck moisture out of the regulator. I will simply cap this line when I change my fuel lines and FPR this winter.

By BPC I take it you mean boost pressure contol? or boost control valve? Yea, ours has 3 lines.

Ahh the wiring, it was so much fun. I had that finished a few weeks ago. I cut the connectors off the stock harness and used them. The stock harness is still in the car and is still partially connected.

You went V-band! :) Nice slip fits and welds!

Yea man, V-bands just make life SO much easier for mock up. Worth every penny.

Whats the time table now? Gettin' really excited and it's not my car :D

Hope to start it next week sometime. My bro and I were able to get some more done last night. The rest of the downpipe will be welded today, then I just have to finish the dumptube for the wastegate and the last part of the exhaust near the muffler.

Just read all 13 pages.. fantastic write up and great pics...please post up some vids when its running nice too !!!

You know...20 years ago in Australia you only drove a Volvo if you were a really bad driver needing some extra protection! or you were old and liked lawn bowls. If you did something wrong in a Volvo you would usually cop abuse to the tune of "bloody Volvo driver!!"

I drive a 97 V70 2.5T and I absolutely love it however I still cop crap from my friends and relatives for owning it... thanks for keeping me inspired! now what did you do with that 19T........ B)

Regards Darrin

  • 7 years later...

My thread basically got cut in half when it was unarchived so I added some pics to the original post.

Got a few updates coming soon

I'm also looking into coilovers. I just want to get your opinions.. used KW V2s with ~10k kms or new D2s?

KW's. No comparison, I had D2 and they're entry level coilovers.

Agreed on the KW's, just make sure you get all the warranty information from the seller. If I recall correctly, the original buyer gets free strut rebuilds lifetime warranty, while a second, third, and so on can pay ~$120 for rebuilds with the warranty.

A little different, but I had both K-sports (same as D2) and KW V2s on my S40...KW's are worlds better.
