Karlson
I heard Turbo xs works well with our cars.
ViperVette
I mentioned the homemade one, because our cars you shouldn't go over 15-16psi w/ the stock fueling anyway. Unless you hate having a operational vehicle.

Unless you hate having a operational vehicle.I know a guy who owned s70 T5 manual and was running with 18 psi MBC, and he didn't have anything else. car was running 13.9.. ViperVette
last time I checked 13.9 is getting to the lean side of things... don't we wanna be mid 12s?Obviously 13.9 is still in the green zone, but shit happens.... :(

I already have the chip.. MBC is for some extra HP.. nothing more. I ordered the Tan gauge pod from gaugepods.com should arrive shortly. Also anyone want to comment on what gauge to use? Oreo931
i say autometer
FixerUpper
I used to have a autometer boost guage but it looked retarded/\better to blindly boost and hopefully not detonate and shred your engine, then to accurately boost and "look retarded"personally my new autometer looks good on the a-pillar white during day, black w/ white numbers at night.now I have to replace the dash bulbs with nice leds since my guage is like 5x as bright lolbottom line is I got lucky when I had a MBC and no gauge-I tried to be very conservative and it worked for a couple weeks with no damage. Its funny though, although WOT boost is easy to feel physically, high boost at low rpm is not, and thats the worst kind!
wills
After running the 2 stage MBC for 5 years, I can say you should not use an MBC for the street. You really should get an electronic controller which you can not only adjust the max boost, but more importantly the curve of the boost to match your IPD program. All MBCs do is allow the boost to reach max pressure as soon as possible which is only good for racing applications. I had the 2 stage so I could run a low boost for normal driving, but it still was never the right amount at the right time. The MAF is always playing catch up to the boost because the ECU program is not regulating the boost. Spend the $$$ to tune properly, extra boost is useless when improperly applied. BeachRat
I had a TurboXS that worked great once I got it adjusted properly. Switched over to an EBC... never looking back!
Attack Eagle
Guagepod is great love the pods I will probably get a Tan one finally someone actually carries it. As for the actual boost gauge not sure there have been lots of talk about gauges on here just not sure where to go. I know VDO, there is actually a factory near where I grew up in VA and I know they have a long standing history of producing a quality product so I may just go that route. I need one that hits at least 20PSI ( I plan on 17psi or so). Anyway thanks for the help to all who posted I think I am going Dawes or Voodoo III not sure which one. Voodoo Definitely looks better, has the stainless or ceramic ball bearing to prevent turbo spikes, claims to be very smooth. Dawes has a lot of tech examples to back up their claim to be the best on the market their Hybrid MBC. Thanks again to all!In my admittedly Non Volvo experience, but experience with a fast spooling large turbo, the dawes was all net hype (17 psi DD DSM, with occasional forays over 20 psi, and a couple of friends running well over 20 daily)... It was no better than the Vodoo III (or Voodoo II?) with a steel ball, and decidedly not as adept at handling part throttle full boost/or onset spike (t28/14b/EvoIII 16g all spool by 2400-2600, T28 would hit spike to 18 for 1/2 a second when set to 16). It is better than a bleeder type for sure, if you want boost fast and hard, but it sounds like the experienced guys are saying that ISN'T the way to go on a volvo. As far as running low boost with a slower spoolup and no full boost at partial throttle, bleeders excel at that (most factory Solenoids are exactly that!)... I know this From experience with a "ball spring" MBC that wasn't... it was a bleeder, and all I could get out of it was 5 psi over wastegate, I apologize but i don't have much experience using a ball spring boost controller below 15 psi...VDO and Autometer are both ok non-electronic choices, if inconsistent from one gauge to another by a PSI or so. I actually had a little Spearco Gauge 30-0-20 black face that worked just as consistently and only cost $20 used.
Benjam83
Everyone here is saying good things about TurboXS, but I had one on my 780 and it just boosted too damn fast to where it would spike and cause knock. So I'd have it set at about 12 or so, but I'd have turn it down to 10 so I didn't knock when I romped on it. Yeah boosting fast is great....but for some reason the computer couldn't keep up, maybe they can keep up with the pressure better in these cars.
