BlackBeast
PS is gone.So how did you go about getting rid of it? Exactly like Slater said in the PS thread?
Johann
So how did you go about getting rid of it? Exactly like Slater said in the PS thread? For now all lines have been removed. I still want to make a small breather box, let de lines run to it and hope it will work that way.
Johann
The way it is now, Brake system is back in place. All wheel bearing/hubs have been replaced for 5 bolt type.Rims are in place including 5 mm spacers for the front axle to clear the calipers. For the engine part the TB setup has been removed again to finalize the vacuum/air connections, the airbox and to add the throttle linkage.Being a bit fuzzy which way to go with the electronics I finally decided to put back the original Volvo fusebox and the minimal wiring required, was considering a Saab 9000 relay/fuse box..Back when I stripped the car I took the whole wiring loom apart, connectors and all, without cutting the wires to much. Putting it back has proved to be a real challenge..A friend was kind enough to borrow an older Volvo workshop wiring manual, more detailed than the newer books. All connections and wire sizes and colors are in there. It was a nice puzzle but I succeeded to install a minimal wiring loom. What's functioning now,The headlights high/low, corner lights f/r, blinkers f/s/r, rear lights, brake light, fog light, wipers, washer system, dash light including dimmer and the hazzard light function from the original Volvo switch. Also the Volvo lightswitch is in the dash, stock gauge cluster and the foglight switch. Dash loom has been stripped of all unneeded wires also. All relays not needed including the wiring in fuse/relay box and connectors has been removed. Also dash checklight connectors for brake fluid and coolant are in place and a dash checklight breakout loom for connection to the engine loom. What needs to be done,The battery needs a place, still undecided if it will be behind the passenger seat or in the trunk. Battery is a gel type btw. The engine wiring loom also needs to be fabricated although I already stripped the original loom and sourced connectors for non Volvo connections and a connector for the new coolant temperature sensor, MY2002 Volvo.I hope to make some progress on the engine loom this week. Johann
Update:Not very much work done unfortunately.. Most time goes in to small things.A so had a rather nasty water leak just above my computer room... Besides the mess it created it destroyed all of my keyboards and my digital Sony camera which was on the table at the time.Bought a cheap camera to take some pictures but quality is far from what I was used to with the Sony cam.Fiirst of all,I received the velocity stacks and mounted them to the intake setup for fitment,Very little space and I'm thinking about lowering the radiatior to make some more room. Also the alternator has been mount to the block at the location where the AC pump used to be.Most of the engine harness is done except for 2 connections, MAP and IAT. Both still need a place when the airbox is finalized, airbox will be a huge bugger btw.Connected are,Cam angle sensor (CAS)Crank sensorThrottle position sensor (TPS)Coolant sensor (CLT)InjectorsOil pressure switch wire for dashAlt. charge wire for dashFan assy, including relayMain power line from altternator to starter engine and from starter engine in to passenger compartment.Ignition and O2 sensor still need a switched power line, will do so when closing the main loom. The loom itself is running straight from the firewall where the heater connections used to be to the engine, made a support for the loom on the top engine mount frame so it will stay clear of the long rear coolant hose. The main power line is running underneath the loom. For the exterior,Installed what I call a Realcar splitter for Alter1 exterior. Ordered from a local Autostyle catalog, painted matte black.Yesterday I painted the front tow pickup red and added a red arrow sticker next to it, will post pics later. Then the worst part.....The car was missing the outside mirror covers so I traced new ones, one in bad shape, all scratches and the other new..Wanting to paint them I placed a poll on the Dutch Volvo 850 forum asking which color...Eventually Apple green is what came out of the poll so I painted the covers in this color. Results are awful.. At day one, next day I must say it does have it's charm's and a couple of days later and getting used to it I must say it is a funny thing to see.Took a picture with my GSM phone but the color is far from accurate,
Spoony
This is looking really nice- except for the apple. I don't think that'd ever grow on me. Those rims are gorgeous. More pics once you get a chance please.
