Death Of A Dictator

but if you keep him alive you run the risk of insurgents gaining moment in an attempt to rescue/free him.

once we captured him it was a done deal, there would be an insurgent attack surge either due to his execution or due to his being imprisoned for life. they chose execution, this is their right as the iraqi people, personally i would've voted for not telling anyone and just slipping poison to him over a long period in his food so he quickly dies over a month or two and you can claim natural causes. Or... make him live in paris... he'd commit suicide in days... i know i would.

Saddam was worthless captured, nobody cared. They knew half the public was glad anyways, so freeing him wouldn't do anything. If he meant anything there would have been huge attacks, however it was just empty threats. An ideal execution would have been to let him loose on the streets and notify everyone of exactly where he was, let those who he made suffer get their revenge.

Although a conservative on most issues, i recently read a letter by Michael Moore which expressed the need to get the troops out immediately. I completely agree, we have done way more then needed in Iraq, and our troops do not deserve it. The talk of sending more is ludicrous; they should all be home now, not trying to win someone else's war. As with the United States, sure we had help, but eventually it came down to the Americans to win their freedom, not their helpers.

i love how political jager makes me :arob:

so should the bastards that give our troops crap for doing their job

I didnt mean it that way. I support our troops because its something that I would never do, and i understand that they are there doing their job....

...but (this is going to sound mean) I don't feel sorry for them since we dont have a draft and the military is volutary..they have a job to do and we are paying for it, its no different then the people at the DMV or DOT...

Cept no one at the DMV has to rush machine gun nests or drive a convoy through an RPG infested block in a shithole town. Pretty bad analogy.

but its like being a cop, you decided to join. and you knew going in that when you got to train using machine guns, bulletproof vests and tanks, there might be some sh.it thats gonna go down. So you cant expect a whole lot of sympathy (at least from me) when it does. It is still a CHOICE though.

BINGO!

Don't get it twisted, I still support because your our boys...but its a JOB..

..just like we need guys to make cheeseburgers and pick up garbage...

cept for maybe, some of you have a 5% survival chance in those situations, where as we can survive that type of JOB. Just 'cos you can flip a burger, doesnt mean you can with us doing a patrol <_< ! All those who talk smack, have no respect for ANY armed forces, is not just a JOB... When I was in, I never looked at it as a job. That's just ignorance!
