Let me start by saying this rule was not my idea but I DID agree with it. Some of the other moderators who donate their time here everyday thought it might be a good idea. It was discussed and we decided to go forward with it. Keep in mind again these changes were only done to make the site what we thought would be better. An announcement was made and 90% of people complied. That was your PM. The RSS excuse does not fly with me. News is a very slow forum. There is no reason not the take the RSS feed off of it. Actually if you RSS any forum it should be news. With that said maybe the way violators were handled was not the best. But keep in mind the number of PMs we all get each day. Personal PMs and hand holding is a lot to expect from people who donate their time to a car site. I personally only changed one banner and that was Kevin's. He opted to change it back and I promptly removed all his admin rights. Personal exceptions will not be made only because like other options they are time consuming and open to biases. Smaller signature images do not take away from anything. If we truely were going for maximum ascetics we would set an image size. All sigs would be the same size. But that simply is not the case. I run 3200x1400 is not an excuse either. I run higher than that on some machines. Guess what? They have great resolution. I do not need a 14"x6" banner to be able to read you're pissed off at the people trying to keep this place running. I get the message loud and clear every day. What have you done to make it better here? Donate time? Write reviews? Help with the auctions? No? You're not expected to. We just want you to follow simple rules so we can do those things. Sometimes it's easy to forget you guys are doing this in your spare time, too. I only had "modifications" in RSS, I didn't even know there was a news one, so now that's added. Empowering the moderation staff as much as some despise it is necessary. Other wise we would just all sit around and talk about change instead off being the catalyst for it. Greg spearheaded this with the others and asked me my thoughts. Not being "in the trenches" as much as they were I told their word on it that it was an issue. Plans were made the the ball started. I am no so blind as not to alter plans should the need arise but I also know once you let slip the dogs of war you do not rein them back in until the job is done. There may very well be changes made in the future. Once this shakes out we will PM people warning them. But for now these are the rules.
