Maybe Chuck can enlighten us a tad here. If the sleeves are easily crackable (..is that a word..), what has AtSpeed done to their GT car blocks to hold 600HP? I think there was a thread deep in the bowels of the board about forged steel sleeves...

Any enlightenment?

they have probably sealed or what ever you do to the top of the block that eliminates the cylinder movement at high RPMs.

I used forged sleeves. As for Atspeed I cannot say. If I had to, guess ;) , I would say they are not making 600hp. I would also guess there are some other tricks.

Charles for the win. The race car is light as a feather and there a rules that keep it around 450-500 anyway. A little bird told me they are using the stock cylinders at least

with the Cosworth perhaps also the Mahle. Keep in mind they do something like 25 laps

and they run on the very edge of rich and so every once in a while fire comes out. Sometimes they get fire spitting out of the side many times per lap. It is not lean like a guy with a bad tune plus then also NOS (not good idea

at all for these OIO cylinders

Do I want sleeves like Charles yes, do I have them no

For those of you not familiar with this vehicle I urge you to first do some basic research either here on on the web about it.

For those too lazy to search, but still curious about the whole thing, here's an article about it.

European Car Article

That's a sad ending for that car. I'm still gathering info on what's involved with a 're-sleeve' of such a block, I'll edit this post accordingly if I find enough adequate info.

The Evolve car was not sleeved. Thats the OEM block.

I know Matt lives in PA, don't know where the car is though.

Lying in a Volvo dealership in Phily, last time I heard from my friend, who knows Matt.

Here's the ECU wiring:

i dont actually know if thats the wiring or not but when your building a car that hasnt been built before you wont make a perfect system only to change and splice several times, like protype.

Was waiting for that to come up. Chuck taught me all about the beauty of closed-deck! Too bad a model company that does performance engineering like Evolve didn't think of it, though. How much was this car?

Edit: When you look at the article, all you see is pictures of the styling. If they were truly proud of the engineering they should have shown under the hood instead of a snapshot of the stupid hood leuvers.

Hood louvers/vent is still there. I do not think it cracked.
