You know half those rednecks will never follow rules, no matter what you do, so just kick them out.

You do realize that the majority of the drivers, crew members, team owners, etc, etc, etc are NOT rednecks. They are very smart people with very cool jobs. I am a redneck, so I don't take offense to the word, but I hate it when people just lump everyone who likes or works in NASCAR into the redneck category. I mean come on, how in the hell are you going to call JPM, Jeff Gordon, Jimmie Johnson, Casey Mears, Boris Said, etc, etc rednecks. Now Dale Earnheardt Junior is a redneck through and through. But he is one of the very few left.

Exactly, they are driving around in a friggin circle, if you have to cheat at that then you suck!

nd_gosh2.png

Grant, you and I are cool, but that is the DUMBEST thing you have ever written. Going in a circle is one thing. Going in a circle at upwards of 180mph with the next car just INCHES from you takes some skill. I would suck at it, you would suck at it, 99.9% of the people on this board would suck at it.

 Crack has to be a premium option. Could it be making them run for 300,000 miles with only timing belt changes? My sisters Toyota truck has 285,000+ miles on it and Ive replaced the timing belt (2), plugs cap n rotor(2), and a coolant hose. Thats it (besides fluids). Runs like a top. Damn them for cheating the laws of planned obsolescence.

volvo did the same thing with thier rwd cars .... hell even some of the fwd's are like that, never mind the volvo's had a lot more power .. most cars had a turbo, or you could just bolt on a turbo to an n/a engine and make lots of power and still last 400k+ if taken care of ....tho if i was trusting my life in an accident i would much rather be in a volvo than a toyota ... so why is not volvo near the top? maybe they just cost to much ... but hey the old used cars should of been more popular

yea sure the old toyo trucks are nice but i have been in and worked on lots of thier cars and eh is all i can say about them... the 22re is one of the best engines i have seen as they love to just take abuse

myself i would much rather prefer a honda to drive engine/drivetrain wise if we are talking about Japanese imports. toyota is nothing special tho they figured out a way to do it w/o any kind of fun car for the last few years

ya'll can trash talk nascar all you want but untill you have done racing like that you really have no place to say how hard or easy it is ... i used to race 1/4 mile clay oval and trust me ... a lot lot lot harder than you think(tho loads of fun on clay). and there is cheating in anything that people compete in ... that is just how the world works as this is why we have rules and what not to try to stop the people that cheat as everyone wants to be #1 and will do whatever it takes to do it

hell we used to cheat to make weight as otherwise we could not even compete with the others on the track(was a 2bbl limited class and a few ran 4bbl's and other tricks to get extra air in... you would be amazed @ how quick they could swap carbs on an engine so by the time the tech guy got there it would be back to a 2bbl).... either way we would always find the heaviet guy in our crew and have him drive the car up to tech even tho he did not fit @ all. along w/ sometimes lean on the car so that side of it meets the weight spec. then again i think everyone did that to meet weight

i'd love to see nascar use OEM spec cars and blocks and have to build those up to 700hp and make them last .. that would be fun

either way down with limits let them go 300mph around the track just build larger walls to keep them from killing as many people when they crash

Rednecks and cheating in the same sentence? OMFG What has America come to?

They need to go all-out either way: ban them from several races like Chuck or Greg suggested, or just say "monkey rules" and let them do whatever they want:

they should bring back turbos for F1 and let them go nuts BUT ... then again another one of the reasons for not letting them do that is only those with big $ can play AND i do not know if the tech for keeping the cars on the road can keep up with the power of the engines

i am fully with you on the ban ... kick them out for a few races ...will make people think again about cheating @ least untill they figure out a better way to do it

Funny I thought that was what racing was about. The second part. The first part..... its not like NASCAR is cheap enough for a small team to campaign anyways.

ban everybody who cheats, and there wouldn't be any races, cuz every last one of them is cheating in one form or another.

i say let them do anything, that way there are no limits....shit, if they want to put wings on the car, by all means, fly into the crowd.

It's only cheating if you get caught. :monkey:

"not a sport....drive in circles....rednecks".It's good to read diverse,concise,well-formed opinions about a given topic.

You guys should really try and expand your thought process. As it is,most of you just sound as stupid as you try and make Nascar out to be.

Dang - - - how many people are going to say the same thing?????

Look - people pretty well want cheaters punished - weve established that.

But the entire NASCAR rulebook is about the size of a checkbook. LOTS of "grey" area. Does anyone remember Jeff Gordon's car getting impounded because he nearly lapped the field? Then they said He's cheating - then they said ok, he wasn't cheating, and we're not going to fine him, but don't bring a car like that to another race, and so they added a rule to ban whatever it was Ray had done to his car? That is what really good mechanics and crews do - they find ways to make the car fast, and unless is spelled out in black and white, and says "YOU MAY NOT DO _____"...... Then why NOT bend the rules, or find ways to make the car faster that is not specifically prohibited?

Obviously what was done to Waltrips car - is cheating and they got caught and punished - argue the punishment if you like, but not every time someone is fined or punished, was cheating the full intent.

I feel better now......

Cranky

funny tho that it is a toyota car AGAIN caught cheating

Toyota doesn't own the teams.

There really are no defined rules...

Then why do they have all those forms that go on the body? And why does it take so long to inspect all the cars? It's headed towards a spec series BECAUSE so many rules are defined. Spring rates, spoiler angles, shocks, gear ratios, tires...it's defined. We just don't get to see the rules in print.

I dislike nascar and at the same time laugh at all those who say it's just rednecks going in circles wasting a bunch of money. The engineering and business side of it is so much more advanced than most people assume.

Its not just rednecks. Its very educated rednecks, but rednecks non the less. All that aside It does not matter if they are French. The debate was over cheating. Not gray area, but clear cut cheating.
