InlineTurbo
do a little research on AMD64...its hardly kicking Intel's jerk....the new chipset that just came out goes head-to-head with it in most of the benchmarks I've seen...I really feel that AMD is a shitty company, their products are inferior and fall apart, I've heard of more over-heating issuses than I care to discuss, personally, I'll be going Intel, because 64 bit processing is a waste of time right now...←That is an Intel Fanboy opinion. Intel makes good stuff, but don't put AMD down. They have been handing Intel its jerk in price/performance for many many years. I've got a 1.5 year old athlon system that was $200 for processor and motherboard that I'd put up against most systems out today. Even the high end Intel ones. There are plenty of 64 bit Linux distros and if you want to spend the cash you can get a 64 bit windows OS. I'm not going to upgrade for a year or so when they become more mainstream, but they are there today if you have the desire and cash.

The only catch is that it can only be installed on an AMD 64-bit system.I have several copies of it
lax01
and I do bid you good luck playing Doom3 in 64 bit I do not like these articles because they are very one-sided. The benchmarks were done to favor intel, and even then the AMD did better. You say it was only "slightly" better, but:Beyond3D is the most imparital review site out there...they are not one-sided, they are not like Anandtech or Tom's....their articles are incredibly well written and are very technical...Did you read the article? Price aside, the two PCs are closely matched, and with the right tuning (oh lets say overclock to 4+ GHz), it would be uncomparable...The fact is 64 bit maybe the future, but its not here yet...there's no reason for it right now...but, enjoy the comfort of knowing that you got in on the ground-floor of it... InlineTurbo
This game rules! The exploding body when you hit them with the shotgun at close range is cool. Also enemies scaling walls and jumping through stairs to get you is very scary. Too bad even on my Radeon 9800 pro it is not ultra fast. Very playable, but not as fast as I thought it would be.Also a note enable Vetrical Sync in the advanced options. I didn't at first and got really bad tearing atrifacts. The rear channels have saved my jerk a few times already because you turn around to a noise behind you. This game is scary as hell.
NaturalMystic79
Burgandy, I have the same graphics card as you, but I have a P4 2.8GHz processor and 512mb PC3200 RAM. What resolution are those shots you have, and at what level of detail? I'm going to buy that game ASAP.
Burgundy_850
i'm running it on very high detail, which auto sets it to 800x600 res. i get between 2 and 30fps, but i'm sure your rig will be able to run it at a more consistent fps, albeit probably not much higher than 30fps at that detail setting. the thing is that i get the same framerate on very low at 640 as with very high on 800 res, which obviously means my cpu is holding me back :pizza:
