Level Ten Transmissions

As some of you know, ive had a long going ordeal with them and i just decided to write this today after getting off the phone and being fed more talk than work on their part.

October 06'-- My transmission died and i searched VS for a performance solution, this led to level 10. I contacted Pat Barrett at Level 10 who i have dealt with since the beginning. I made numerous phone calls to them with questions which they promtly answered and i then set up a date of which i would be dropping the transmission off and they told me a 1 week turnaround.

Next, i set up a date with my indy mechanic to drop the trans which i then put on a skid and drove it to Level 10. I made 2 calls during the week regarding the process they made and they responded with good service. I went to Level 10 to pick up the rebuilt transmission and took it back to my indy mechanic. This was installed within a few days and then my mechanic took the car for a drive and noticed something was wrong. He called level 10 and spoke to them directly which led to Level 10 coming to York, PA with a roll-back and picking up the car and taking it to their shop to fix.

A few weeks had gone by of my car being at Level 10 and i was told it was done but here was my first real problem with them. Pat barrett told me that their tow driver was on vacation for a few weeks so i would have to come pick up the car myself which i was pissed about since there the ones who took it to Jersey. This was 3 weeks before thanksgiving, I left one day to get my car (keep in mind this is a 4 hour drive!) i get there and pick it up. Leaving everything was fine so i stopped for lunch which took about 20 minutes, while i was eating i think some trans fluid either leaked out of a seal blew when i pulled in because when i was leaving it felt weak, i still had not known what it felt like to drive because of the 3K stall converter. 20 minutes down the road, i called my dad who was in front and told him to pull over cause the car was shifting extremely hard and i smelled ATF.

I immediately called Pat at Level 10 and he said he would send a tow truck so he gave me the number.. It was the same number as the one who was "on vacation" He came 30 minutes later and picked up the car and took it ot level 10. 2 weeks later, they had the problem fixed and i had them tow the car to hanover because i drove 8 hours for nothing

I broke in the trans over thanksgiving and it lasted till Christmas day (great present) when it started to slip a lot. I called Pat and he said id have to bring him the car. I took him the car on a dolly and its been 4 weeks and there just now working on it.

My opinion of level 10 is that they are happy when they have a chance to get your money and once they have it, you might as well not deal with them or attempt to call because people will be "out of town" or "on vacation" Right now i am PI$$3D and i want my car for the weekend! Take what you want from this but id recommend a local shop for a high performance transmission or stall converter.

Dealing with them is not worth the frustration.

This is pretty common unfortunately. Once they have the car and a mechanics lien on it they

can screw you over if they are that way about their business

It does sound like they are trying to correct it and pay for the towing correctly etc

which is more than some would do

well the only time that they "payed" for the towing was when they took it to their shop from my mechanic because the car wouldnt drive. then they towed it back AFTER i drove all the way there to have it for 20 mins and a seal blows out and i left with no car

i was impressed with their service at first but no way in hell id say that now

Your car is really nice and in the end I think you will be in good

shape. I think you are disappointed and in motorsports the first

thing that needs to be removed is ability to be disappointed

The reason is you will for certain be disappointed in products, vendors

people, your car will work against you and there will be bad luck

such as an offroad on turn 8 or your girlfriend curbs all of your Pegs

(or your Volans) at the same time

i can't believe this is still going on. they could of built you a new car by now. total crap.

i wouldn't settle for it. did you pay for the work with a credit card?

yes, my parents put it on their card back when i first had it done

i could have had a 5 speed  IMO i wish i could get all my money back and give me my car and ill take it to a place in york that i found who can do the exact same thing! except there a LOT closer and the guy seemed really knowledgeable when i talked to him

take it up with the credit car co. all you need to do is prove you didn't get what you paid for. they take the money back and asks questions later. worst case senerio is they'll jump to attention some.

best you get your money back and walk away.

he should wait till he gets his car back though.....they can hold that if he reverses the cc payment.

partick talk with visa (whoever) and tell them the car has never been right and you are not satisfied. explain everything. visa works for you(your p's here) they don't give a crap about level 10. have your P's threaten to take their business to another credit card co. they'll hop to attention.

file a claim with the BBB also. this will help set up a paper trail.

What shop in York Patrick?

I stopped in at York County Transmissions and im not sure who i spoke with but he seemed very knowledgable and took my car for a drive and instantly knew what was wrong, never having seen the car before. He explained that he has done many racing spec trans rebuilds and explained what they do and how it all works. I would reccomend trying them if anyonw wants a racing spec trans but i havent had them do any work, just stay the hell away from level 10!!!!

  • 2 weeks later...

UPDATE: they have had the car for over 1 month and there still looking for an "electrical problem" ive been told all this $hit over and over.. the idea of revoking their payment is sounding really good right about now. Also i need this car for a school project and while i explained that, they didnt seem to really give a poke.

I have no actual evidence that they are working on it.. just being told the same sh!t every day i call the douchebags

:angry::angry::angry::angry: :angry:
