Testing Ad Links

Updating you guys as I go. I need ~ 12 more hours of data off the current set up. At that point the content ads will more than likely be set to only display for people using the default skin. This means for base members nothing at all will be different from the way it was last week other than you must set a skin preference once. The new ad-free skin displays ads based on your membership level. So in short for the least ads possible opt for "ad-free". For supporting members this means no ads at all.

So how do all these annoying ad links help you? I am setting up a structure that will pay cash prizes to members each month. I will be testing for bugs over the next few weeks and updates will follow.

The ads wouldn't be so bad if they were a bit more intelligent. I know how incredibly difficult that can be, especially with dynamic content, but It would be nice if it could tell that intercooler meant Intercooler in this context, not Integrated Circuit. Many of the ads are quite absurd, with pipe bringing up results for "engineered piping systems and head exchangers". The only one i've seen that is applicable was for koni, where it redirected to suspension at tirerack, and that's something I just might click.

I've yet to try out this "Add-free skin", but thank god you're offering one, the adds would drive me nuts if there was no escape. I think you'll generate more revenue from people becoming supporting members to get rid of them then from the adds themselves.

Cash prizes are cool though, so if that's what the adds get us, sounds good here.

The simple solution is alias IC to intercooler on the back end that was its already intercooler before the script processes it. But then again I am not any where near the point of ad optimization. I am more just testing the feasibility of them as well as far way for cash prizes each month in several areas.

. The new ad-free skin displays ads .

We don't even have that anymore...I remember seeing on the local news a guy had a company's ad tattoo'ed on the back of his neck and I forget how much he was paid for it (total peanuts for living with something for life) Probably paid less than what it would cost to have it removed . Sorry that just caught me funny ;) The ad links do freak me out though. I know you can turn them off but I'm going with 'em like everyone else. Frankly I don't care about them

All members can turn off the contact links. They are only forced on guests.
