No stocker normally driven car needs a turbo timer, just those who drive it hard. So I think it safely falls under perf. section.

Regardless stock or not...all turbocharged car benefits from turbo timer. That was just an example for the type of question.

If you have a couple spirited run on a stock car, you still need to cool down time before shutting off the engine...if you are smart.

When I picked up my car, the first thing I looked for was info on how to mod it and where to get those mods. I think the site has improved in the 4 years I have been paying attention. I also like the Google search feature, now I can find pertinent data fast. I hope everyone has a chance to use the spell check button.

The current P2 crowd may be firmly entrenched but I believe that many of us will migrate to or add a P2 car to our stable. This will hopefully bring the kind of knowledge and support that most of our aging cars now enjoy.

I don't know enough about what it takes to keep us up and running but I like the sites "freedom". If adding corporate Nazi's would detract from that, I hope there is an option that keeps the site a worthwhile endeavor for Charles.

Ive been a fan of the site for about a year now.

So perhaps i can add my point of view. I have read this complete thread.. and perhaps this summarizes my thoughts.

Now that I know a little behind the inner workings of this site, I think it should probably plateau at this point just to make sure everything is stable (the site and the people). I agree with Pras that more attention needs to be payed to the quality of posts and members. There are those that give volvospeed the stereotype that we're a bunch of idiot kids with fwd volvos that are bent on looks rather then performance. Having your car appear appealing to the eye is one thing but when people start calling you stupid just because you're a member on a forum, something went horribly wrong. After all, it's just the internet so why would somebody have anything negative to say about a whole forum? I'm keeping the poster on Tbricks anonymous but he called the members on volvospeed "stupid" for the sole reason that we care more about our headlights rather then the engine.

I belong to several sites and I can recall a number of times where immature attitudes and derogatory comments to other people trying to get answers made me wonder why i participate here.

I enjoy the knowledge and experience we all bring to the table.. particularly Three Fat Tigers who has helped me a number of times on situations.

Any organization's success is based on its people.. not only the moderators and organizers of this site.. but the ones who post here. Yes i can hear people saying "get real" but honestly.. ive had a number of members who come to this site and admit that they would rather lurk in the background than participate because of certain attitudes which exist here.

It is my belief if you want this to grow then you have to make it easier for people to participate then you have to encourage it and .. moderators need to take a serious look about the quality of the comments. Im for free speech but a site like this should be encouraging participation instead of making newbies feel like their idiots. we should leave our attitudes behind. What i dont understand is .. we all learned from our mistakes and others... so why with the attitude now that when someone accumulates knowledge..it gives them the right to put someone else down or consider they are stupid for not knowing it?

I dont think that this is prevalent everywhere here..but you know the saying..one bad electronic apple can cause serious damage to the rest.

Perhaps if we all participate by adding more .. how to fix _____ to the sections we can as a group move to more worthwhile postings. I would love to see more information or contribute more information .. almost building a dynamic section from everything from painting to engine repair. Your online manual.

I also am a bit lost when it comes to meets and other volvo events which will help me build bonds with other volvo enthusiasts. I know that you most likely have that..but still i find it difficult to navigate though the site that way.. and i dont think im computer challenged. It should be more user friendly.. but i dont have the internet savy to know how that would be accomplished.

I would like to see more events and get togethers which will naturally encourage participation for those who want to. Sometimes we forget that electronic forums lack the personal connections which can only be made by live meetings.

In summary i want to ensure the organizers that i find the site valuable.. but like even volvo 240's... no matter how much we love them.. we need to move on to the modern world.. and embrace change.

I've always looked at the news forum and figured others did as well. I just thought that people never responded to the threads. I also think the newsbot (which was a pain in the ass) kind of turned people away and they never realized that you took it away. I always found this thread as important and informative most of the time.

I think I might actually enjoy this forum the most of all other because it has the least pointless threads in it (in my opinion of course).

the attitudes of the people and mods of this site have made it what it is, without them/us this site would suck like SS.

Maybe you should read a little harder before making insulting remarks. I wasn't replying to the "new" part of chuck's comment. I was commenting on the fact that I read the news forum.

Well i can see that was a complete waste of my time .. oh well ;) Live and learn!

Don't feel that way. I read your post and agree largely in parts. Well aware of what you are saying when various individuals remain in the shadows due to the somewhat hostile nature of this site, have heard that numerous times. As a moderator, member for quite a few years, and more recently vendor... I can see the site has progressed but still tends to be a bit hostile.
