NOOOOO!!! I probably would have bought an S60R if it wasn't 40 grand to start...Give me a C30R for 30 grand and THEN we'll talk.
Just buy a t5, they are relatively cheap and slap an R badge on there. Everyone will love it!

They really don't know us at all.

There lies the problem- Volvo doesn't know their customers. Or rather, they don't know us.

There are very few people on these boards that purchase brand new vehicles. Being the poor "purists", we generally go for the cheaper and older models of volvos. The majority of people who own volvos never even imagined modifying one. Volvo has already released special parts like body kits and such but it isn't paying apparently. I'm not sure of their financial situation but I'm sure that they're doing what any other corporation would do; appeal to the masses and steamroll the minorities. Just because we don't see anything positive in the newer models doesn't mean the average car owner won't. Obviously Ford/volvo isn't making the money they wanted through the R-line so they're "temporarily" pulling it regardless of our opinions. We're basically agreeing with the masses anyways. By not purchasing a new R (or convincing your friend to buy one) you could have quite possibly helped cause the demise. Or, the general person thought it was too expensive and not to their liking so they chose a bimmer or benz.

The people on volvospeed aren't volvos main customer base... The volvo market is mostly dealing with business people, families, and women who want a safe reliable luxury car. I'm pretty sure they aren't designing their cars for men who want more POWER. Ovbiously they aren't making money off of the R line so why continue it. Unfortunately they do know their customer, too well, and that is why the performance models are dwindling. With gas prices going up the number of people who want high power gas guzzling machines is also going down. Sad fact of reality is this is the way the market is, and if you build stuff that no one is going to buy, you aren't going to be in business for very long.
