He saw I had a boost guage and could hear my exhaust so he started chatting with me. He said his car was totally stock. There was nobody around and he asked if I wanted to give him a run. I said sure but not from a stop. I've raced STI's at the track and from a dig the Volvo doesn't have a prayer. We were going to race to an exit that is about an 1/8 mile up because we were both getting on the highway.Anyway we rolled to about 5mph and then he yelled over to go. In every gear he pulled on me by about 1/3 of a car. At about 75 mph we had to hit the brakes to get on the highway. He was a full car length in front of me, so I let him get on the highway in front of me. Once we got on the highway, I pulled up beside him, we gave each other thumbs up and he yelled over that we should try again in the future. Apparently, he enjoyed the little sprint. Anyway, It was about what I expected. I trap about 100 he traps around 103. I wasn't expecting to win.

Granted it wasn't pre-arranged, it was more or less I was just trying to follow him because he ad some good head way in the traffic, but he was pulling on me, although I was never next to him only behind him, and then some punk jerk in a tiburon got next to him at the light and had his jerk handed to him.Good job, one of these days don't worry, you'll have the sti by its balls. :)
Dane O'Shea Posted August 6, 2004 Author Report Posted August 6, 2004 I have raced WRX's from a roll and they aren't a problem. They only trap about 95 mph. Any modified T5 can take one from a roll. I must say the STI has got some balls. It's no rocketship, but I was impressed.

lax01 Posted August 6, 2004 Report Posted August 6, 2004 yup...they are fast, wet or dry...my friend in his S4 (who I lost to this weekend) raced one in the rain (small race, from like 40-70)...both have AWD so it wasn't as stupid as it sounds though it was pretty stupid...those STis are QUICK...very fast cars and the one we raced was stock...
