Taylor Made Matt System

Anyone get fitted/ have a lesson in one of these things yet?

I got fitted for a driver and hybrid out at Golfdom in King of Prussia on Sunday and it was amazing. Was pretty sweet, they had me put on this suit with a bunch of reflectors on it and sensors all over the room picked up your movement and digitally mapped your swing. Was so cool to see exactly what your doing from any angle. You can diagnose everything your doing wrong. Sooooo cool. If anyone is interested I can get you the guys number they are great guys and def. know what they are talking about.

(This is a golf thing, not volvo related)

i read an article in Golf Magazine a while back that had these 3 normal guys get fitted for their clubs kinda like what you did and they each dropped their handicaps 3-5 strokes. The article went on to say that it is a great way to drop easy strokes!

i did break the shafts on my 5 iron and 7 iron, which i could play without, but i just broke the shaft of my driver and now i have to get them all reshafted. i guess the process is just too expensive for me.

how much did it cost?

Well I went from a really low trajectory and almost no roll with my Cleveland Launcher 400 which was about 290-300 to about a 10* launch angle and a decent amount of roll with the SuperQuad TP which is around 330-340 consistantly. Gonna have to start toning back my swing, but on the plus side, the hybrid I got fitted for, a 17* bent 1* open I was pounding ~270 off the ground, so that'll fill the void.

It was 100$ for a 1.5 hour driver and '3 wood' fitting. We ended up deciding that I don't really need a three wood and the hybrid was the way to go. I had worked with Robert Craw previously while in highschool, so it was a great suprise to see him there. He is really an amazing teacher, really into bio-mechanics. So if you are not a flexible 20 year old, he is even better to work with.

The good thing is they can get you fitted up for everything, from putter through driver and you don't have to do taylormade clubs. Its just that right now the Taylormade technology in Drivers is so far past everyone else it isn't even funny.

But yea, if you can get to King of Prussia and are an avid golfer, I would go do this thing stat. Its an amazing experience and will deffiantley help your game. Oh yea, like everyone who even works at Golfdom is a scratch, so plently of knowledge to help you with anything.

Im not a fan of Taylor Made clubs. Plus as soon as you buy a club from them, there is something new from Taylor Made that is "better". Big fan of Titleist and Cobra woods. Cleveland CG2 irons are the best out there by far.

I am currently playing the TA7 irons, so not going to argue on the Cleveland Irons rocking front. However, as far as the Titleist and Cobra drivers. The new Cobra has a spin rate of near 4k for me, whereas the Burner had a 2200 and the Superquad had a 2300(if you can get to 2000 it is considered fanominal) lower spin = more consistancy as well as ROLL! Most people wouldn't know what roll was if it smacked them in the face. And the titleist... the D2 is just a dead club. I was hitting it consistantly 20 yards shorter on the carry, and that was drilling the sweetspot too. I love the 975D and 975J, but it seems after that their club manufactuering has gone downhill.

There is a reason why there are more people on tour playing Taylor Made then all other brands combined... because they are better, more technologically advanced clubs. Not because they pay better. Its almost sad the difference.

I'm gonna be looking at their irons soon, but ive been nutting the shit out these TA7s for the past 3 years and haven't had much to complain about. My only gripe is they aren't good out of deep rough, but I'll have to go to blades for that playability. I was playing Mizuno Trues prior to the TA7s so possibly a Mizuno product. That Grain Flow forging they have is quite impressive...

I play an older Cobra 440. I hit it 290-310 so no complaints from me on that one. Seems to roll very well for me. I havent tried the newer models due to the odd shape they have come out with lately. I have to agree on the new Titleist woods being a dead. They dont seem to have any pop to them whatsoever. Some of the older models were the same IMO. I havent had a chance to hit many of the newer models that came out this year though. Im in the market for a new driver this year or maybe next so I will see where Taylor Made goes with the current generation of drivers. It really boils down to what club I am most comfortable with.
