Man that looks good, One question how in the world did that guy get that headlamp apart i would be afraid of melting the lenses since both the housing and the lense is plastic. Becuase I wanted to do the same thing and remove the lense also. Also the lights look great at night do yuou have a shot with the citylights only on with the parking lights ?

Looks good, if the wiring isn't too hard I might have to look into these lights
you will be able to see how its done if you come to the York Meet lol

Well my friend tried to open headlamp, but like you said lens melted. Then he cutted hole under (bottom of) the light and he said to me that he can get those lenses switched that way.

If I remember right, there's no night pics of that red S60 there in Garaget.org.

I'm sure you could do it. I failed to mention that the headlight wipers have to be removed, it's not an option. There is a bracket that bolts the wiper motors under the old assemblies, the '05's do not have mounting points for that bracket. (those 2 little plastic tabs you see on the outside of the headlight near the wiper) It's very easy, just unplug the motors then trim & plug the washer fluid line that goes to the headlights at the washer tank. (I just folded the line over itself and used zip ties) It shares the same line as the windshield, there is no extra pump like the V70's have for the rear windshield. Plus removing them gives you some extra room for the wiring since you'll have to rearrange it a bit. The '05's are deeper and have to be coaxed into position a little. There is no error from unplugging the motors so no software update. ;)

THey look awesome, and yes there is a place in the US that carries the Radicast wiper plugs for the X70's...i thought it was IPD, but they're not showing them now.ViVA has themhttp://www.vivaperformance.com/catalog/pro...products_id=562

Thanks man. Those are very similar but it sounds like they require the rod that the wiper arm attaches to in order to secure them. The rod is attached to the motors so I wonder if you could still use them if the entire motor is removed??? Probably could rig it somehow. But the difference in price isn't that much and it's super simple to completely remove the motors anyways, but still...good find for those not replacing their headlights.

Also, I should mention that these '05 assemblies come in 2 sorts. While they are identical otherwise, the ones for the V70 have a grey interior and the ones for the S60 have black, which ever ones you choose, make sure they match. If you're buying them used make sure the seller has matching assemblies. The guy I bought mine from salvages and repairs headlights from all types of cars but he's no Volvo expert. (does great work though) It would be easy to mix them up if the person isn't careful.
