Couldn't we use a generic ROM editor then?

Perhaps something along these lines?

Have you contacted the developer and asked if he has a version for ME 4.3 / 4.4? I think the difference between the Porsche ME and the Volvo ME is the location/offset of the map tables in the ROM.

While it would be nice to use something like the IPD softloader It certainly won't work on our ECU. Who has real time datalogged from their OBD2 port in a 93-97 850?

not to mention, who actually has an OBD2 port in a 93-94, and some 95 cars?

My 95 850 OBDII port works, never did any real time tuning tho, because I don't have the software to do so.

I've heard of a device that maybe able to such a feat, called the CarDAQ. It also acts as a factory scan tool for many cars and makes. http://www.drewtech.com/products/cardaqplus.html Its not cheap though, its cost is $1500-2000.

any chance of getting AEM to do it?? wonder how many people would have to request it...

I would think AEM would suggest their own EMS, rather than tinker inside of Bosch's Motronic EMS. I wonder if Bosch would reveal everything?

isn't the VW's of similar years using the same ECM as the volvo's?

I know that the vw's have been broken and i'm sure the volvo's could be maybe a better place to try is to go there and find out who did the initial cracking and talk to them.. I've found in the volvo community, wilst we have many people that are good at what they do, there just isn't enough people in terms of volume that have that extra peice of the puzzle.

I mean why is it that all the main GM cars, VW, Audi, Honda, yada yada are all cracked?

Oddly enough, GM's EMS is one of the tops when it comes to total package and reliability. I'll look into Audi's and VW's but I doubt many of them have the oddball system like the 95 with an OBD2 port that's still running a DTM for most of the diagnostics. I think Honda's EMS was cracked because of the sheer amount of people tuning honda's and the wealth of information they would share between each other.

thanks.

this site:

http://members.rennlist.com/mark944turbo/home.html

has a lot of relevant info about how the maps could look and work. it's for an older motronic, but they use a similar cpu, the intel 8051.

Their motronic editor V2 didn't have volvo map offsets, but it's a great start, those offsets should be easy to find.

what ever happened to EOBD?
