I'm a bit late on this thread but the back LH port(facing the car, pass. side goes to the valve cover and the first diagram is incorrect? Here look at this thread PDF page 14 shows it correct...I actually had to go look at my car cause you guys even had me confused??? http://volvospeed.com/Repair/knock_sensor.pdf

I didn't realize there wasn't a Bay 13 tutorial on this guess I will have to do one?

I love you. Thanks for confirming this. By what you are saying I hooked it up correctly the second time and I DONT have to do it again!! w000t!

:lol::lol:

Yea, now Oreo has everybody in the world confused. :lol:

Im fine though , I got it dialed in. :D

Hey, now everybody knows which way is right ;)

I just got so confused reading this thread.

So if I'm correct, the hose on the passenger's side goes up to the crankcase, the hose on the drivers side of the oil trap goes to the air intake?

And I guess on cars before the s/n change, that second, thinner vacuum tube is useless when it's stuck inside with the air intake hose, it needs to be taken out for vacuum use?

Please confirm this for me. I'm not sure I exactly understand what was wrong in the first place with what diagrams.

Actually, now I see the confusion in the drawings. But to be sure: Drivers side is air intake?

drivers side goes to air intake, passenger side goes to crankcase.

the vacuum hose is supposed to go in the passenger side of the manifold which then goes back to the fresh air hose, but if you want you can plug the hole in the manifold and just attach the vacuum hose to the vacuum tree instead.

OK, thanks for clarifying. I think that that vacuum hose is only used in the tube on the engines past a certain serial number (reason for two kits on FCP). I have no way of putting any hose in the passenger's side of the manifold. I only have nipples on the drivers side. I'm gonna take it out of the casing and use it instead where this other vacuum line was... I believe this line that goes from the fresh air near the turbo to the top of the block probably does the same thing, and that's where replacement is needed. If only they made this easier for us :lol:

Well guys I pulled everything back apart yesterday and reevaluated the PCV system that I replaced last week. It seems as though, I had them backwards if you go by the previous pics. The good news is that it took way less time this time, the not so good news is that I'm still getting smoke out the dip stick tube and now it seems as though I've got more pressure at the valve cover hose, it's not wanting to stay on and the idle miss remains.

When I had it the other way (I didn't notice the top hose having difficulty staying on, the pressures didn't seem as high). I'm at a loss!! I have some tune up parts coming on Monday (plugs, cap, rotor, wires, etc.) so I will take a look at everything again.

On the high mileage Volvo 850T's is there any other place that cloggs up? I cleaned everthing that was suggested I thought. The intake was thoroughly cleaned including the EGR port in the intake, which I might add was completely clogged up, the vac hose were changed, I replaced the intake hose itself..the one to turbo, have new intercooler hoses, I cleaned the throttle body also. I even went through the time to take off little electrical components so they would get damaged..like the one on the throttle body and air filter box. Frustrated!! Sorry post is so long... the only problem I was having was a little smoke at the dip stick tube and oil leaking from around the bottom of that tube. Now I've got a idle miss, increased pressure, who knows what else!!!!

Anything that I might have overlooked?

If I figure it out I'll update you guys. Thanks for letting me vent
