I want snow. I miss boarding. How long has that been there? or is it permanent? (not sure how far north kodiak alaska is.)

It's not permanent. we had our first snow the first week of October, before that it looked like this

My mom asked me to shoot a couple of her rooms today so I figured I'd give my try at it. I've never done anything like this and it was a huge pain since the sun had already set and I didn't have any natural light to work with. Anyways, the pics aren't the greatest, but I'll try again with some natural light. If anyone has any pointers, lets hear them.

sometimes natural light isn't good for shooting rooms due to reflections, excess light in some area none in others e/t/c...pics came out fine...but my god that is not my taste in furnishings..

Yeah, I've been on some of the magazine shoots for some of the rooms my mom has done (she's an interior designer) and they use "light diffusers" outside the windows which also reflects light to where they need it. I don't have any of that, go figure. But yeah, eveyone has their own taste. My mother kept saying the living room looks so busy in the pics but not in person, my response was if it looks like a duck, quacks like a duck, and acts like a duck, it's probably a duck. Interior design is do subjective, and everyone has their own interpretation of what is pleasing to the eye and what isn't. She has her office in the basement of the house and uses the main floor as a bit of a showroom for a lot of the products she carries sans the antiques. The rooms change almost yearly though.

When I worked at EA they used to cheat when shooting at the studio by using these sheets of poster board with slits cut into them, they would back light the board and voila, instant window light. The guy had so many little tricks up his sleve to make the rooms look like they were in houses you would never know they were in a 10,000sq ft warehouse
