Serge
Thanks you guys! I saw these beautiful clouds over SF before the sunset and wanted to make my way over the bridge but got caught up running errands. Boy, was it ever cold out there. Not to mention a non-carbon fiber tripod is very cold to the touch, haha. Yes usually I feel that way as well. Was going for this kind of effect from Ansel Adams although the trees aren't laid out in the same pattern and proximity so it didn't turn out nearly as well, among other reasons. I tried a few different crops one with the front tree on a rule of thirds line but did not like it so I stuck with it in the middle. I don't like going by rules, just what looks right to me. Can't and shouldn't use the rule of thirds for everything, not saying you are stating that but it's what people always recommend when they mention composition. I agree, though, it isn't very dynamic. Very nice, birch trees are awesome! We used to have tons of them in the Motherland. I actually have one growing in my backyard, to bring a little bit of Russia home, haha. WoodyAWD
I thought I'd add some of the shots that i thought were good that i took. I never have had experience with photography. I bought an olympus e-500 and decided i wanted this to be my hobby. They are almost 10 months old. Let me know what y'all think. Thanks

Serge
Slightly older photos (3-4 months old) taken with my first roll of B+W Fujifilm Neopan ISO400 film and a Nikon EM w/ a 50mm f/1.8. The first one is obviously not taken by me.
