betterthingstodo
I posted some pics earlier of one of my student's work. She created a website if you photography guys want to look at it. http://www.baohienngo.com/ Canon a1 and 15 years old, young and old(ish) school, I love it. I recently taught a digital resolution 101 course and was surprised at the number of younger-than-me people that still shoot with film. I thought it was rapidly becoming a lost art. She's got a good eye.

nari
Nice shot, what'd you do w/ the post? Nice job on the box too. Thanks. I'm, sorry I ran out of english and its kinda late here... Did you mean post processing? If so Shadow&Highlight and a tiny bit of Topaz Adjust. And sharpened the rim a little it was out of focus. I was shooting at a drift practice session. I used my friend's 18-105 lens (d90 kit lens) It is pretty good, has VR.. which I found completely useless, maybe it just me... Btw. I have 2 weeks to get my hands on a tele lens, I have to shoot on a drift event. And there is no such thing here like renting lenses

ErikS
She's very talented for her age, I'm assuming she's very young she's one of your students.. Her music photos are her weakest point, she shouldn't even show it IMO. She needs to run away from the photoshop actions too.. Yep she is 15, I'll give her some of your feedback. gdizzle
Yep she is 15, I'll give her some of your feedback. Tell her this, actions aren't necessarily a bad thing and sometimes they're desired by a client. However, they tend to often be a crutch for photographers trying to turn bad photos into interesting photos, or photographers not being competent in post production, or lazy photographers, etc... She's not doing herself any favors is really my point, in fact it's a bit of an injustice to her craft. She bleeds talent, 15 and pics like that? She's got a bright future. I realize she's not making a career out of this right now, but if you look at all these photographers using actions to obtain the vintage film look and basing their entire career on this look, where are they are going to be in a year or two, or even more when this trend dies? They're pigeon holing themselves w/ a look that is merely a fad. It should be shot correctly in camera and not fixed in photoshop. You'll hear this preached a lot in the photo industry, yet ignored by most photographers. As for the music photography, it's a TOUGH TOUGH section of the industry because everyone has done that or this shot. It's got to be an amazing photo full of emotion, etc. Snap shots of a guy singing or a dude playing the guitar aren't going to cut it. Again, she's only 15, but she has a site... :P
