Here's my humble entry, all were taken with my P'n'S Nikon Coolpix L16 unsure.gif I don't do much editing, maybe just some minimal color correction.

All of these were shot within the past two weeks.

  1. Pulled out my heads and relearning my CyberCommander. I never really used the metering of the CC the way it was meant. I always just leveled the lights and adjusted them individually by eye and with the histogram.
  2. Bath time panic.
  3. I hate the snow, luckily the doggie loves it.

How do you like the cyber commander? Never used one, but I do use the cyber syncs. I either use a light meter to adjust lights or just do it visually, building as I layer light in. Start w/ one, work my way up.

Thanks for the fix sir.

You hear Paul say it all the time but the AB/WL really are a studio system and the CyberCommander isn't much different. The interface is good but it just isn't meant to be adjusted quickly in the field to capture that brief moment. You have to dig through menus and sub menus to make your adjustments. It's a bit temperamental in communicating with the receivers at times. The 1/3 stops vs decimal thing is a bit frustrating unless you're a math wizard, and even then....

It's durable beyond belief and it's really suited me well. I use it all the time. The funny part about the CyberCommander is you can read about it and all of it's idiosyncrasy until you're blue in the face but not until you're holding the unit does it all make perfect sense. It's one of those items you really need to either borrow from someone or take Buff up on their money back guarantee to see if it works for you.

I originally got the CC as a semi-decadent way of adjusting flashes around a car. When it came in the mail I used the meter to level the lights which is especially useful outdoors. Then I'd handle their power adjustments on my own building the scene as you do.

This winter however I decided it was time to bust out the manual and relearn the CC as it was intended. The intention of that was to give myself the avenue of using the meter the right/quick way if the situation struck. I'm however currently really enjoying a hybrid of both methods.
