ToxicLemonade Posted August 7, 2007 Report Posted August 7, 2007 I would want a died coolant simply for the fact that if i had a leak it would be easier to spot on the ground or on the hoses etc...

Geevs Posted August 7, 2007 Report Posted August 7, 2007 http://www.valvoline.com/pages/products/pr....asp?product=11This is the stuff they put in.Are you sure about the about link to the Dex-Cool coolant? This is normally orange colored and not the right coolant for Volvo rads.I think you wanted to refer to this onehttp://www.valvoline.com/pages/products/pr....asp?product=10which is normally clear colored or light amber. This is suitable for Volvo rads and what some members here use. I used this once before but went back to Volvo coolant.
flaco Posted August 7, 2007 Report Posted August 7, 2007 well... here it sayshttp://www.valvoline.com/zerex/pdf/Zerex_C...id=1B5D1AEA1AFCyellow, green or orange so....
jonn Posted August 7, 2007 Report Posted August 7, 2007 Once I replaced Volvo overpriced coolant with DEX-COOL type (I think it was Prestone). But after getting coolant smell in the cabin for few seconds every time AC started I went back to Volvo coolant and the smell went away. And I've stayed with Volvo coolant ever since.
crazykn Posted August 7, 2007 Report Posted August 7, 2007 I'll just toss this in:When the car is warmed up (the gauge at 3 o' clock), the coolant temp is 190-220F.
matt b Posted August 7, 2007 Report Posted August 7, 2007 I'll just toss this in:When the car is warmed up (the gauge at 3 o' clock), the coolant temp is 190-220F.Which I think is the same as my 90 celsius.
Chilled man Posted August 7, 2007 Report Posted August 7, 2007 no!the color of coolant depends only on what color they put into it. It all starts out clear. It used to be that certain chemistries were a certain color, that was the reason for the coloring. But that is not followed any more.If you really think it might be water, put your fingertip in the reservoir (when it is cool!) and taste it. If it is coolant it will be sickly sweet.I use Zerex G-05 coolant. It is clear. It works great.Learn something new every day ;)
Plan_B Posted August 7, 2007 Report Posted August 7, 2007 So I just spent almost $800 on a brand new OEM radiator, thermostat, thermostat housing, new coolant lines and labor on my car. A little bitterGood lord, did you take it to a dealership?Mine installed cost less then 600 for OEM
