I agree that the 6 black kids should get charged but I think as Minors... as for the white on black crime that went on as a result of the nooses... they should charge them... but I do not know what everyone is up in arms about?Can anyone clarify this? 7 VII 7 Posted September 19, 2007 Author Report Share Posted September 19, 2007 well, the noose thing... thats pretty bad... they should find out who did it and charge them with something.... but as for the 6 guys... i think 3 of them were 17, 1 was 18, 1 was 16 and another was a minor (they did not say).... charge all of them as minors and the 18 as an adult.... but now Jesse Jackson and Rev Al Sharpten(sp) are down there trying to make this a bigger issue than it is... HtownTurboBrick Posted September 19, 2007 Report Share Posted September 19, 2007 it is a bigger issue then it currently is.heres a starter, none of the 6 were actually involved in the assault. nobody would name names so the school pulled all the white kids aside and told them to tell them "who was in the vicinity" so, thats what qualifys down there as detective work, find out "what black kids were in the area?" and charge them. seems a little 1900's if you ask me.Secondly, the kids were charged with "attempted murder" since when is a highschool fight become attempted murder? i've been in plenty of fights back in highschool, nobody ever got charged with more then assualt and i know people who've been put in hospitals after fights. The one minor who has already been to trial and charged had his ruling overturned by the higher courts. The court ordered that he is to be tried as a juvi and not an adult. The Jena court has not set his bond for him to be released and he's still in jail. He's spent 10 months in an adult detention facility already, there should be a ruling of time served for this type of case since the charges were lowered to "assualt with a deadly weapon" which o btw was entered into evidence as being a sneaker...none of the students involved in the "noose prank" have been punished in any way. there was a situation where some white kids pulled a gun on some black kids, that was never looked into. basically the whole thing comes down to good ol' boy antics in some back water town thats still living in the post-civil war era. who in the hell claims a tree to be the "white tree" anyways? honestly if they want any of this to be credible to people living in the "present" time there needs to be charges and punishments across the board and a serious investigation to be done in search of the true assailants not just base it on people in the area at the time. I looked this up on Google news like 2 months ago, a good 8 months after the events happened and like 3 entires came up. All from advocacy groups, none from the actual media.Jon, I agree with you on what needs to happen. I just really doubt we'll see that happen. most definitely won't happen...its just the world we live inreverend jesse jackson, and al sharpton will sure ruffle quite a few feathers tho, and the rally tomarrow will get national media attention, but it'll die back down after that, and we probably won't hear anything about it for months. i'm honestly only aware of it because its been blasted across the local news for the last 3 days about how houston is gonna send "3 whole bus full of people" to jena to be part of the rally. in the end its just a buncha kids who should of just had a school yard fight and left it at that. throwing race into only made it worse stupider then it had to be. According to the media, if any crime whatsoever happens to a black person, its a "Hate Crime." If this happens to a white, its simply a "crime." Tell me, isn't any act that does damage to another individual based off some kind of hate? In sense this makes anything hateful or cruel, a "Hate Crime." Any of you willing to dispute this, I tell you to go spend the night in East St. Louis and see if you can survive. Hell, maybe you will experience the true meaning of "hate crime." People always try to separate race...why? Let the whole race color barrier drop. I don't think anything of it, and have a few black friends. I make no excuse for what these white kids did.
