Sweet, me too! High fives you Danny. Wait, I'm my own boss currently! Pay sucks but the benefits aren't bad (I get to sleep with the owner's wife!)...

:D

What are you doing now Scott ?

Working for yourself FTW, as long as you don't mind working alone.

Queston for you guys...

... would you buy a salvaged car that's been repaired?

If the deals good, just depends why it was salvaged. If its flood damage, stay away. If it was wrecked and repaired and looks to be okay, go for it.

A car has to go through a inspection to be awarded a salvage title, it will never have a clean title again.

I'm currently looking for work, while tinkering around in my basement actually, and selling crap on craigslist like it's crack. The hours aren't bad, ya know?

For actual work, the team that I worked with was all disbanded by our former employer (f'n bastards, I'll get my revenge!), so the team leader is trying to get us all rehired with his new employer. They're trying to win the gov't contract that I worked on, and looks like they've got a really good shot. I've got my fingers crossed there, b/c having some income would be great, since I can't get unemployment due to the state's very employer-slanted regulations. B)

Not true. If the car title was salvaged in PA, and you take it to NM, they likely will give you a clear title. I've seen several salvaged cars come in with clear titles, but have had salvage car history in another state. I don't know how it works, but it is possible. That's why you always have to check car history. Plus some insurance companies wont fully insure a salvage titled car.

Good luck Scott. I know how it goes and how rough it can be, even if it's for a short time.

BTW: your FMIC is chilling in the garage, waiting on the install. I need to get some couplers and a pipe and it should go on soon. :)

Thats what carfax/experian auto check(which is much better than carfax) is for. BUt there are some cases where they get by carfax...

Yeah, I bet things get by. Especially here in TX where it floods every year if you're in the valley areas. Lots of those cars just go to detail shops, get vacuumed and dried out. If there's hydrolocking to the engine, there's several salvage yards here and an engine is easily replaced. Insurance companies usually don't even know there was any damage.

I dunno where all you FL guys get your Volvo's but for the past five days I've been down in between the Kissimmee/Orlando and Tampa/Bradenton area and I've seen about 15 Volvo's and only one 850/S70, prolly 5 S60, 3 S80s, 6 or 7 S40s and a few XC90s.

Shit, I see more donk caprices and 22" rims down here.

Volvo's in MA are like rental cars down here.

What gives? No one loves the swedes?

i did  lol, let me explain i had my car inspected at a volvo dealer, then bought it sight unseen from someone on this board. The inspection popped up a few things and we agreed on which he would fix, he also replaced the turbo because it burned oil something the dealer didnt find. I could have got burned admittedly. There is only one noticeable spot of damage i can find on the car. It is a small wrinkle in the inside fender on the drivers side. Other than I was happy with my purchase i might not do it again but i am happy
