Man, that sucks. Are you going to be okay leaving the subfloor there, or do you have to rip that out too?

I've been cussing at the new basement toilet for the past two days. Installed, and can't get it to stop leaking, like a drop every 10-20seconds. Friggen coupling between the tank and the bowl. I've used Vaseline, wax from a (new...) wax ring, wrenching down bolts, cussing... and the bastard still leaks... drip...drip....drip. I swear it's laughing at me. Time for a liberal dosing of silicone sealant, me thinks.

The subfloor isn't damaged which is surprising since it must have been soaking in sewage for the past two years. It's almost dry so I'll put the floor boards back in next week.

About your toilet, shouldn't you be getting a new seal? I was told once the tank is separated from the toilet, you should reuse the old gasket.

I meant to say shouldn't reuse the old gasket.

PS: What happened to my edit functionality?
