gilber33 Posted November 15, 2010 Report Share Posted November 15, 2010 Well, I just finally spoke to my landlord after finding out I was robbed from the locked storage units yesterday, of which you need a key other than the one to the building to access. He was unaware that I had called the police regarding it, and once I did, he blew up at me. Yelled at me for calling the police, told me how I wasted my time and they're not going to find any of my stuff and how now I'm wasting his time, and it's going to be on his record. He told me I should have called him first to ASK PERMISSION if it was OK for me to call the police, even though I was the one robbed. He told me he wouldn't have given me permission to call the police, and then hung up on me... I'm in the process of calling the police officer that I spoke with yesterday to tell him about this. If you have to take it to court it will help you out. I have a log of everytime someone parks in front of me and who I talked to and what they did to solve the problem. I wonder when the locks on the storage area were last changed. When we had the car break-in, there had been some earlier in the year (one guys car was broken in 3 times) the management had NO IDEA when the garage locks were changed last. I called the officer and he said the only reason he could think of that the landlord wouldn't want me to call the police is that every time an incident is reported, after so many the property gets listed as a nuisance. So, that would be three times from me alone now. Hopefully the officer calls him and has a word. My Dad's coming tomorrow and emptying my garage spot and the rest of the stuff in my storage unit. I'm just worried about my car now more than anything. I feel like I'm being targeted. For how many people see me drive in and out of that alley, they know which garage my car sits in. I told my Mom what my landlord said and I think that's the first time I've heard her say Fuck in a long time. And before I could even say it, she said I think you're being targeted, which is the same thing our insurance agent (also a long time family friend) told me as well. .....I'm currently looking for new apartments. Every single year I'm in Milwaukee, I hate it more and more. I don't care what anyone says about this city...it's a shit hole, it's not progressive, it's regressive, it's the most hypersegregated city in the US behind Detroit I did plan on going to University of Virginia for Graduate School...... Gabe, just talk to a lawyer about that stuff and see if the lease can be terminated. I'm going to the University Legal Clinic tomorrow, which is access to lawyers/attorneys for free for students with renter/landlord/lease/etc problems. Theres always the occasional bad incident on Marquettes campus but I guess its never been as bad as UWM. Then again Marquette spends a ton of money on security and what not. My uncle lives in the Blue Ridge Mountains out there, and has a town home in Alexandria that he and his wife rents out. I visit there a week at least once a year, I love it out there. Unfortunately, I should try to stay in Milwaukee to finish my degree, but once I'm done here, I'm getting the fuck out and going to Virginia.
