Anyone ever driven a tow truck, or worked for a tow truck company?

Any insights as to what I might be getting myself into if I accept this job offer...?

Hook or flatbed? It can be a crazy job. You see some scary things at times.

I did it for extra cash for 3 years.

Idk...

Sent resume.

Guy called, talked for a minute, told me if my record was clean and I wanted a job to call him when I get out off today.

So details will be figured out after work. I always call back regardless if I am taking the job or not.

Its just professional to let them know.

Hr runs background and driving checks every 6 months and she just did mine 2 weeks ago. I'm clean and could use extra cash.

Said he would provide any training I needed as well as registering with local PD.

You getting paid hourly or "per tow"? On call or full shift?

Its a good way to get out and see real life..see shit that goes on at all times in all neighborhoods.

Just make sure you are getting paid fairly...

So I tried to go for a bike ride when I got home from work. Still 40F, better get out before it drops further. As soon as I leave my street, I discover it's quite windy. Like crazy nuts windy, steady with heavy gusts. I lost feeling in my fingers in under 2 minutes. At the end of the ride, my core was hot and sweating, and my fingers were so numb I couldn't feel the zipper on my jacket or the keys in my hands. What a bizarre feeling. Very annoying and frustrating. I like the winter, but moments like those remind me why even I can get sick of it.

I enjoy watching new truck drivers fail miserably at backing their trailers into the dock area.

only to either fuck up the angle and have to try again over and over till they get it right.

or to slam the trailer into the dock like this guy just did.

Guy has been trying since 8:10 its now 8:34

SCORE! 8:35 and he found the hole.
