yeah i often find myself seeming somewhat insane for the ways i "logically" justify or i guess process things that are really just subjective or unimportant such as a movie. Our inner dialogue is a very odd one once we really look at it. Sometimes I wonder i im insane too haha....Anyways I've more of less have given up on TV except as a last resort or a few shows i stick by, ive developed a much greater interest in things like beiber said (cant believe im saying that) such as music, reading, drawing anything that stimulating but not such mind numbing, brainwashing shit as TV these days.

TV sucks so much

I've turned to other methods of entertainment such as listening to music and video games. Hobbies are also super cool brah.

Don't forget, there's always outside

The kid who used to spend hours trolling girls on chatroulette is going to tell me to turn off the electronics and go outside? I rarely watch TV while the sun's up ;) Hell, see my post from last week in this same thread

I wish you could comprehend a wife's horror at 3 in the morning

as I check her husband of 40 years for a pulse and find none.

I start CPR anyway, hoping to bring him back, knowing intuitively it is too late.

But wanting his wife and family to know everything possible was done to save his life.

I wish you could read my mind as I respond to an EMS call,

"What is wrong with the patient? Is it minor or life-threatening? Is the caller really in distress or is he waiting for us with a 2x4 or a gun?"

I wish you could be in the emergency room as a doctor pronounces dead the beautiful five-year old girl that I have been trying to save during the past 25 minutes. Who will never go on her first date or say the words, "I love you Mommy" again.

I wish you could know the frustration I feel in the cab of the engine, squad, or my personal vehicle, the driver with his foot pressing down hard on the pedal, my arm tugging again and again at the air horn chain, as you fail to yield the right-of-way at an intersection or in traffic.

When you need us however, your first comment upon our arrival will be, "It took you forever to get here!"

I wish you could know my thoughts as I help extricate a girl of teenage years from the remains of her automobile. What if this was my sister, my girlfriend or a friend? What were her parents reaction going to be when they opened the door to find a police officer with hat in hand?"

I wish you could know how it feels to walk in the back door and greet my parents and family, not having the heart to tell them that I nearly did not come back from the last call.

I wish you could know how it feels dispatching an officer, fireman or EMT out and when we call for them and our heart drops because no one answers back or to hear a bone chilling 911 call of a child or wife needing assistance.

I wish you could feel the hurt as people verbally, and sometimes physically, abuse us or belittle what I do, or as they express their attitudes of "It will never happen to me."

I wish you could realize the physical, emotional and mental drain or missed meals, lost sleep and forgone social activities, in addition to all the tragedy my eyes have seen.

I wish you could know the brotherhood and self-satisfaction of helping save a life, or being able to be there in time of crisis, or creating order from total chaos.

I wish you could understand what it feels like to have a little boy tugging at your arm and asking, "Is Mommy okay?" Not even being able to look in his eyes without tears from your own and not knowing what to say. Or to have to hold back a long time friend who watches his buddy having rescue breathing done on him as they take him away in the ambulance.

You know all along he did not have his seat belt on. A sensation that I have become too familiar with.

Unless you have lived with this kind of life, you will never truly understand or appreciate who I am, we are, or what our job really means to us...I wish you could though.

APPRECIATE AND SUPPORT THE LOCAL EMS WORKERS, FIREFIGHTERS, & LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS IN YOUR AREA. ONE DAY THEY'LL PROBABLY BE SAVING YOUR PROPERTY OR YOUR OWN LIFE.

WHEN YOU SEE THEM COMING WITH LIGHTS FLASHING, MOVE OUT OF THE WAY QUICKLY.--- THEN PRAY FOR THEM.

Some things can't be "un-experienced"

Please don't make any stupid comments.

One of the more shocking demonstrations of ignorant and poor driving I've seen is REGULARLY seeing the ambulance cruising to the hospital in Providence, heading down 195W, the main feeder from east of the city, and watching people completely oblivious to it being behind them as they travel in the left lane like it's their job to occupy it. Flashing lights, sirens, squawker blasting away, but it still costs them an extra ~-60-90 seconds as each car blocks them for another mile.

Really wish police would focus on ticketing for this instead of speeding.

I live and work along PCH in Big Sur. The road here is a narrow 2 lane highway. Not too many safe passing zonse. I don't know how many times I have followed people for miles with lights and sirens blaring. They always try to get further ahead, because they don't want me to get ahead and get stuck in the road block.

I say ram em off the road

I have come close to doing that many times. Requested for a Buck Stop bumper to be installed on my rig.

Thank you for all the positive input. Some people don't understand.

The stupid idiots and people with no common sense and think the world revolves around them. Which could possibly be 3/4 of the United States.

I feel better now.

The couple that live in the back part of the duplex im in, the husband works EMT, volunteers, and goes to class most of the week/weekend. He happened to move into the area just before the big San Diego fire back in 07. Talking with him about the hours, the constant training and classes he needs to take makes me think my 70 hours a week isnt that bad...especially when he went through how much hes paid when he working an EMT shift or at a local firehouse.

Made respect to you and your fellow EMT workers. I have personally experienced there blessed hands which brought me back to life. I still feel bad about waking up on the ground and saying who the f--k are you lol. I actually kept in touch with him for many years. I was young and thought I was invincible, driving my first fast car that I really couldn't handle. two 360's and a side impact later on H1, I was looking at the EMT that became a good friend.

Our department is fully volunteer. This means we don't get paid, at all. We all have other jobs that pay the bills. But when the pager goes off, we clock out and go. We don't have shifts. So I'm on call 24/7, 365. If I'm at home, I still have to drive almost a mile to the fire station. Others have to drive up to 10 miles just to get to the fire station. Than from our station, a call could be up to 40 miles away in either direction. I never know how many others will respond. I've been on calls that I could have done alone, with 5 others, than been to calls where I needed 10 others and had to go it alone. I never know if what I'm responding too. A page goes out for a Non-Injury Veh. Accident 1 victim involved, but when I get there, its a smoking car 100 feet off the cliff with 2 ejected victims and 1 trapped. I have seen many things, I wish I hadn't. and know I will never forget. I've responded to calls involving close friends, and had to sit there holding their hand, exhausted, knowing I've done all that I can, but their is nothing that can change whats coming. Its a tough job. Takes its toll on you, mentally and physically. But at the end of the day, when you sit down and think of all the people yo have helped, and the smiles on the parents face when you tell them their child is going to be just fine, well it really makes it worth it. I can't think of anything else that I would rather do.
