Timbo Slice
I got my OBX exhaust from them. Everything went super smoothly, no issues to report. Just an FYI.

gmsgltr
Alright, I've searched and I can't find a write-up. But how do you remove the front bumper from an x70??? did it the other night putting my new r bumper on super easy and takes an hour remove the rivets holding the front fender liner to the bumper remove the black plastic air guide under the bumper (qty 2 10mm bolts) remove (i think qty 8) torx screws holding bumper to bumper support perpendicular to ground in the bumper grill inserts remove qty 2 8mm nuts on headlight washer arms, remove arms off spline yank the bumper off i found having a flat had screw driver to push tabs down/pry helped me best doing this by myself to slowly walk around the bumper and get it off evenly the x70 bumper is different than the 850 mainly in that it has a black plastic slide in guide on both side near the fender liner. I had to remove both of these from my stock bumper and relocate to the new R bumper... You get an R bumper for yours?
gilber33
I did buy the R bumper that was for sale here from TBM (?), but I'm also stopping by a V70R tomorrow to get the R panels (for the '99), and if I can haggle him down enough, get that R bumper too. Put it on the 98, or maybe just hang onto it. I'm going to print that out. I don't know if I really feel like spending that much time to remove it though. The girlfriend will be with me, so trying to keep the pillaging time to a minimum.

andyb5
Gabe, if you bought a complete bumper and not just the plastic cover, you only need to drill out the fender rivits and remove the 2 14mm bolts behind the outer openings and the whole assembly will slide right off. Takes 10 minutes, and makes removing the cover from the foam&beam much easier.

Foxdc199
Boom. Thanks! Where are the 2 bolts? Can I reach them with the car on the ground and the wheels on it? The bolts are right about where the fog lights would be. You can either have a really long extension or just go through trim whole in the bumper. And yes you can get them with the car on the ground but rivets might be hard to get out with the wheels on.
gilber33
Shoot, that's true, I forgot about the rivets. Maybe the guy can jack it up so I can get those out. I've never looked at the x70 bumper to remove it, but will the bolts be pretty noticeable when I'm looking at it?

Their the biggest bolt holding part of the bumper cover but also another problem might be that the foglights might be in the way of the bolt. So you might have to remove the fog lights to get at them.
andyb5
Yup you can do it with the car on the ground no problem. Turn the steering wheel to get access to the rivits, and you can reach the 14mm bolts from the front of the car with a 6" extension to clear the bottom of the bumper. This is the drivers side bolt, just by the tow hook. You don't have to remove the foglights, just remember to unplug the harness before removing the bumper.
