In tech I see a lot of concepts that never come true, I hope this one works out. It is a far cry from the 3 cyl I had in a Subaru Justy that felt like it was powered by a lawn tractor engine. It's just not an interesting technical advancement today. It's impressive, but "been there, done that". HP/Liter game has already been played. The interesting advancement here is HP/Weight (of the engine, not the car).

We get a good LOL out of watching most of the country freak out about 1" of snow and 30 degrees F closing schools. I know they're not used to it and such but still hilarious. We go to school in -20 F, feet of snow, whatever. I've been here since '84 and don't remember school being closed. Our attitude is you're in Montana, it's going to snow and get cold, deal with it! At a recent council meeting, something came up about plowing residential streets and the mayor said, “This is Montana, I think the thought of clearing residential streets is totally out of character.” and I couldn't agree more. Of course two of my three vehicles are AWD with good tires and I know how to dress me and my kids so bring it on. We're expecting more tomorrow. I hope I get to blast through some big drifts! But that's not why I'm here. I was trying to go to volvopedia.de and landed here:http://www.vaginapagina.com/index.php?title=Main_Page
Fudge_Brownie
It's more than not being used to it. It's having the budget for the plows and the sand. And I bet everyone out your way runs snow tires, or at the very least makes sure to have decent tread depth before winter. In southern NE, it's rare to run snow tires. And many people are used to driving on well plowed roads, so they rarely feel the effects of having worn tires. Also, population density is another factor. One person's fuck up can turn a major artery in to a parking lot. There's times I've been driving down unplowed highway and seen multiple SUV's who had lost control and ended up in the median. There are no words.Having grown up a little further north, it's been strange working in Newport, RI, a coastal city which is ~30 miles below the weather patterns with significant snow. It seems few people ever put more than a couple miles in a year on snow covered roads. Drive 2hours north, and walk through a parking lot and every 5th car has good snow tires on it, and a clearcoat made of salt. I really don't get it. Many of these people grew up with it. Yet they still can't handle it.Relevant GIF?
