mattsk8
Its been insane over here in West MI. Glare ice everywhere because its been so cold (-10 last Monday) the salt has no effect on the roads. Plus we keep getting POUNDED w/ snow. My kids haven't had school at all yet this week, I'm pretty sure they're over the allowable snow day limit too so at this point its eating into their summer. Because of work I've probably put about 300 miles on my car the past 2 days and I've never physically watched so many car accidents happen. Honestly about 85% of them were girls, and the other 15% was some mid 20s guy in a 4wd pick up.
Dick Dastardly
its been below 0 since sunday night here and the salt has been working fine where its used . The main issue was ice. Brother in law's from NJ and has lived in ATL for a few years now, he was saying that the drivers weren't the issue: the highways and countless bridges all froze within minutes of snow hitting tyhe ground. Everything turned to ice. Ice storms without salt and hundreds of thousands of commuters is very different than a few flurries. true. but its entertaining to watch a total clusterfuck over something that happens 3+ days a week here from november until april..

mattsk8
Data, bitch! Numbers don't lie. Just trying to figure out why men pay substantially more for car insurance than women. its been below 0 since sunday night here and the salt has been working fine where its used . The cold temps, no sun light, plus the blowing and drifting snow makes the salt not overly useful over here. There are patches of dry road but that makes it even more dangerous because it gives an idiot confidence until they realize they went from grippy highway to glare ice all of a sudden. Today's a lot better, temps in the lower 20s so the snow's melting now on the streets.
pdlarson
No salt here either. We have packed powder today and it has decent grip except at some intersections where people can't get going from a stop and polish it to a nice shiny patch of ice with their spinning wheels. In those areas we have trucks that spread sand and that works pretty well. We do have just a few major intersections where they use some awful sodium based liquid that is a oh yeah! to get off of our cars. Salt would just make a mushy mess, and kill fish in our river where it all would drain to. When it is well below freezing for days at a time or below zero for weeks on end, salt doesn't help. Of course an XC with good winter tires is my cure for all the bad conditions. As far as I knew, driving in today in the snow was the same as yesterday on clear roads. Yes I drive more carefully but unless I need to make an emergency maneuver (which I'm always mindful of), I can't tell the diff. I thought I would have had comments on my vulvapedia find in my last post. Imagine my surprise when trying for volvopedia.de and ending up at vulvapedia. Well Google, or G as I call it I guess does know what I want ;)
Frosted_Volvo
Just trying to figure out why men pay substantially more for car insurance than women. Because we men like to drive fast and execute handbrake turns in not-always-successful attempts to get the ladies moist. And the insurance companies don't like that one bit. Brady
Yeah, our balls make us more prone to driving faster and getting overall more gnar, thus more accident prone, but when it comes to maneuvering car through parking lots, on snow, etc., well...
