How about the seller on VCOA under priced it Matt. I still think the market supports this car at $5000 given all the work he's done on it. Those $5k P2s typically are not in as good of shape. This is selling the P80 for what it is, not for the 4-6 year difference in depreciation from the P2.

It won't be immediately snatched up but it would sell for $4000 to $5000. And the fact that it doesn't sell in 1-2 weeks means it's actually priced right.

Ask Gabe, I wager he'll agree with me.

I think I linked to the pristine T5M above if not I'd love to see it. And there's a 98 V70 T5 out there with < 80k miles on it selling for $7000.

Agree with Alain, naturally. $5k is on the real high end of what you would get for it IMO, I would say closer to 4k. I sold my T5M for $4500 but that included two sets of wheels, both with new tires and a shit ton of maintenance plus performance upgrades. Given that the car is now in Cali with a larger market, he could sell the wheels/adapters for a grand if he wanted to.

It's unfortunate, but x70s aren't worth what they were a year ago. 850s aren't worth shit. I had to damn near give away my 99 R and my 98 GLT (which had a brand new head and all preventative maintenance done on it). And it will take a while to sell. Took me a month or so to sell the S70.

And Matt's right too, just from looking on CL, the average P2R now with higher mileage is selling for 6-8k. Joe Schmoe looking on CL is going to see your add side-by-side and the P2R is going to look like a better deal.

Instead of dinging me why don't you join the dialogue Timo and explain where you think I'm wrong.

If Gabe and I have learned one thing about the P80 over the last five years it's that plenty of people will throw the car out there for cheap to make a quick sale. But if you have a well built car and you're willing to be patient - and you're not Pat trying to sell it in New Orleans where no one buys used Volvos - you can get a better dollar return for it. You can always drop the price but setting a just higher than average starting price will anchor the sale.

Greg is in Pennsylvania right smack in the middle of one of the three major markets for Volvos. He should pursue top dollar for what is clearly not a typical 200k mile car sale. If this was a run of the mill car, or a stock one, or even an S70 I'd say drop it to $3500 and be done with it. But if you're going to treat this like a stock car then strip the mods and sell them separately and you'll pick up another $500 - $1000 easily.

I'm not going to post my opinion as other people have really already covered that you're a little high. I also do not want to jeopardize Greg's potential sale trying to banter with you when 1. You already have beef with me that you are unwilling to clear up, and 2. I do not want to deter other potential buyers to pay that kind of cash for his clearly good condition, tastefully modded vehicle.

Am I looking to buy it? Yes. Am I willing to pay $5k for it? No, its going to be a plain DD for me and what's done to it modification and maintenance wise will keep me happy for a while. But I do not see myself or many people paying that cash for a semi rare car with 200k on it, and it sounds like others around here agree.

I'll be at Jacks

After the holidays i'll be able to get up there more often. right now I think we have to worry about replacing the radiator and hoses. cause the wagon isn't gonna move without that lol. oh and the serpentine belt.... ugh

I appreciate the kind words and value added publicity - I sit between you two on the sale of this and any other similar p80 value right now...

Alain I think you are partially basing the value and potential condition of this car compared to what you may know of my R - they aren't even close haha - and that's only because you haven't seen them in person to compare, that's all. So I do appreciate the trust and/or confidence you see and mention! :)

this car shows it's near 200k mileage and 17 years of age - iphone pictures I randomly post of this car do not disclose its exterior flaws lol

to get a little snotty (and im sure someone isn't going to like this) about this all - the blue car fits right in with the condition of 50% of the cars on here or I see at meets and show room posts...
